XM Radio Receiver

The User's guide for the CDA 7897 states that this car receiver can can receive XM radio with an optional XM receiver. Could you recommend an XM receiver that is compatible with this receiver understanding I would prefer to wire it direct and use the existing display in the radio for control rather than use an FM modulator or external (an separate) device and display. Is this even possible with this model receiver? Thanks

Duke

Go to www.walmart.com and type in the search box XM Radio. Walmart carries a XM Docking Station that is capatable with most units. FYI though XM has merged with Sirrus so XXM will still work but will soon be unbuyable.

Sony CDX-GT320 FM / AM / XM Radio / Sirius Receiver missing sat option?

Check the connections between the head unit and the XM tuner. If the connections are good check for power and ground.

When my receiver is plugged into my boom box, I get a display reading "check cradle for power"

It's not receiving enough power from the boombox so the voltage drops too low for the receiver to function properly. Check the cradle connector for bent or pressed pins and the power source of the box for proper functioning: measure the voltage it delivers and the status of its components, especially the filtering capacitors.

I don'tknow how to use the satellite radio...

Got this off the crutchfiel web site.

Item #700XMSON1 $129.98 This XM Direct 2 package includes everything you need to add XM Satellite Radio to your compatible Sony receiver: an XM Mini-Tuner, a CNP2000UC universal adapter, and a Sony connector cable. The Mini-Tuner connects to the universal adapter, then you use the connector cable to hook up the adapter to your Sony receiver.
Use your home computer to program the universal adapter for your Sony receiver — you can reprogram this adapter to work with another brand in the future. Once connected, you'll be able to change channels and see programming information on your stereo's display. You can also use the included XM Mini-Tuner with your XM-ready home receiver or in another vehicle with a compatible dock.
A computer running Windows XP and Internet Explorer is required. The unit is not compatible with Windows Vista.
Note: A subscription to XM is also required — learn about XM's programming. Satellite radio service is available only within Canada and the lower 48 states — not available in Hawaii or U.S. territories. Portable reception may vary by location. If you have questions about the proposed XM/SIRIUS merger, read the XM Customer Promise. To view this file, you will need the Adobe Acrobat PDF reader.

Do you have to run in AUX to get XM Radio? Your receiver and unit sound like its ok. This could be a problem with your provider. Contact your provider and their tech dept can help you organise a solution. Is your radio, XM ready?

CDA - 9833 AI-Net issue

If the radio was still plugged in when you cut it (such a BAAAADDD idea....) it likely shorted the data pins to the power pins which fried the AI net processor. There is no fix for that. It's toast.
