I have a video on my casio exilim digital camera, and it won't upload. i don't know if the reason why is that it's too long, but it just won't upload at all. when i try uploading it with this "scanner and camera wizard" program, it won't upload because there is an "unspecified error". when i try uploading it with the program that came with the camera for uploading the pics/videos, i can't click the import button. Can you tell me what's wrong?

The JVC cameras have a flip-out screen, behind this is a small port to which the camera cable connects, kind of "M" shaped. It may also have a DV port hidden behind a small plastic door somewhere on the camera. The other end of the cable goes to the back of your computer tower. Turn the camera's power switch to "Play" or VCR mode and then connect the cable to the tower. Windows should detect the camera, load it and then offer to capture the footage using Windows Movie Maker. The video imported is saved to your "Videos" folder by default. Under start, go up to your user name at the upper right -- usually your name-- and inside the window that opens look for Videos.
You can then use Windows Movie Maker to capture and edit your movie.

I've got the same camera and I use "Windows Movie Maker" to transfer my recordings to DVD's. The program came with Windows Vista, but you may be able to download it from Microsoft.com .
There's another program that also came with Windows Vista Home Premium. It's "Muvee Auto Producer 5.0" and YES! I realize that's not how to spell "MOVIE", that's how they spell it. Anyway, although I haven't used it yet, it will transfer your home movies to DVD or you can save them to the hard drive. I prefer the "Movie Maker". It's pretty easy and it has some pretty neat features. You'll like it too. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with. I know how you feel! I was in the same boat as you, when I first got that camera...NO WAY TO SAVE MY HOME MOVIES AND COULDN'T FIND ANYONE TO TELL ME HOW TO DO IT OR WHAT SOFTWARE TO GET.
Just so you know, everything you need, to do what you're wanting to do...I already installed and ready to go in the "HP Pavilion a1710n", including the FireWire Port. Or, you could get Windows Vista Home Premium...but I don't care for it myself.
Good Luck To You,
Bill

im also havin the same problem...
i know you can easily do it if you have a firewire port on your computer but many laptops or computers dont..
lot of places also recommend an 'i link' cable

The USB on your camcorder is for downloading still pictures only. If
you want to transfer video to your computer you need to hook up a
firewire cable, which is to the right of the USB connection. Firewire
is also known as 1394 connection.
Hope it helps.
