Try opening the Scan function from the computer and pull it from the MFP printer instead of being at the scanner trying to push it to the computer. Your Brother DCP 7020 would have to be on the same network and installed on the computer you are trying to use. Check your usb cable, Ethernet cable or if wireless - check the Wi-Fi connection settings (network name and correct passphrase).
If you do not have communication by the printer when connected by USB cable to the USB Port on the Computer; you are lacking the updated printer drivers. Go to Brother on line, plug in the DCP 8040 ( the printer mod.) in the support area, and download the current printer drivers. Install the drivers and see if you can now connect properly. You can also use the Windows DEVICES to locate the printer and check for updates.
I supose the keybord of that Brother DCP causes this problem. Turn off the machine and try it again. If it does not work afterwords, the machine needs an new keyboard I am afraid.
try to change the port that your printer used. and then restart you computer..if it still dont worked try to unplug and plug it again...while the computer is ON..
The move the software completely.
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the device.
Get offline and disable the A/V program.
Now reinstall and do exactly what the prompts say- no short cuts.
