on said disk are all that you need to run XP and get viruses for ever. for sure all sound chips are there, all used by hp this series
my guess is they are lost, those disks.

and reading the words on the card to discover what is really there

HP does not support this pc now.

Win xp is so far out of date that the drivers in that operating system are not being updated by Microsoft
Any other glitches are also not being fixed
win 7 is also no longer being supported by Microsoft and many of the drivers in it are starting to show faults
Suggest that you consider win 10 as Microsoft have already given a time for win 8 and vista as to when support for them will also stop
vista ended 2017 spring at MS.
W8 ended as it began. (hp has some support)
only w7 and w10 are supported by MS
HP does not support w7 or 10 on this 13 year old PC,
the chip makers also do not support newer OS's on 13 year old chips
fact is we must check each chip 1 by 1 to see that fact
w10 will not upgrade XP, only clean load.
and will love to fail on any 13 year old PC
i fact 2007 or newer is the words from MS lips, for good reasons

I recently have the same problem with windows XP ( when I connected the printer the message USB device unknown message appeared) Before wasting your time unistalling and reinstalling driver, I strongly recommend this:
Change the USB cable for a new one that works properly for USB 2.0 FULL SPEED . What does it mean ?. Well if you have an older cable is very probably that it doesn't work well at USB2.0 full speed (480Mbps) because it's not properly shielded, if you buy a new one check specifications on the box to see if it is prepared for 480Mbps. Testings in other PCs is not relevant unless you're ABSOLUTLY SURE that USB ports are working at full speed in those PCs

what operating system did you replace XP 32bit, XP 64bit? Was the version of Vista you used the 32bit or the 64bit. You may need to go to HP.Com and look for replacement drivers for the DVD. You can also use the windows update to obtain correct drivers for the DVD if they have tested them already. Another option is to go to the manufacturer of the DVD device and see what they list for the driver. Just remember there is a big differance between the 32bit and 64bit drivers. Read on the Vista system you installed and see what level was installed in your system. Regards, rcampsr

Open device manager and right-click on Audio device on High definition Audio Bus.
Select Install from a list of specific location (Advanced) Click Next
Select Don’t Search. I will choose the driver to install.
Select Sound, Game & video controller from the list of Hardware type
Click on Have Disk
Click on Browse and navigate to C:swsetupsp35270 and click on .ini file OK
Click Next
It will give you an update driver warning message. Click on yes.
It will start installing the driver
Click on Finish..
