it say that you have a critical failure it can be power supply ; CPU ; memory or motherboardto test your power supply:1 unplug it from motherboard2 on the ATX conetcor (P1 with 20 or 24 pin) use a wire to link green with a black wire3 with a voltmeter verify that yellow have 12V ; red and purple 5V and orange 3.3V (nearly)for the CPU and memory modules you can change it and test(only 1 memory module is enouth) or test it on an other mother board (must be compatible)and for the mother board test on an othr hardware that work (if previous test was passed it's the mother board)

The red light and beeping was telling you there was a power supply error. Unfortunately the big bang you heard was it dying on you. What probably made the bang was a capacitor. The smell was probably a power transistor.
If it did not cause any damage then you can get a replacement power supply for about $30 and if the shop is in a good mood they will put in in for you for free or maybe $10. This is something you can do yourself as well. When you get a new power supply get one the same size or bigger never get something smaller. By bigger this is it ratting in watts. If the dead one is say a 350 you need to get something rated at 350 or higher. While something smaller might work it will be working harder than it is designed to and will eventually blow as well. A bigger power supply will have extra cooling but will not be putting out near its limit so it runs cooler and lasts longer which is a win win.
No idea if you have warranty but this is definitely covered.
I have an HP Compaq
A bad power supply, OR a bad motherboard. And I hate to tell you, but it's more common for the motherboard to fail first. Especially in those HP/Compaq slimline PCs.
It's because there's very little airflow, and system overheats and burns out. I've had many customers with the same issue.
The good news is you can still recover your data from the hard drive, just take the drive out, and hook it up inside another desktop with SATA connections, or get a SATA-to-USB adapter, they cost about $15

Hello, was the sound working before, i would like to know
1. Your sound card might be disabled from the bios. Restart your computer and quickly press F2, F10 or Delete button to get into the bios to check.
2. Un-install your sound card driver completely and then re-install
3. Your sound may be disabled from within windows, check for the speaker icon on your taskbar and if the slider works.
4. Another hardware on your computer is conflicting with your sound card. Have you installed any recent hardware or software? if so remove them and see if it solves the problem

try the drivers first.
After my computer is idle for a short while I
Goto start>right click on computer>manage>Device manager>Webcam uninstall then restart computer. Computer should auto install it back after restart. This should fix it. If not Uninstall software then the device and reinstall software. If this does not fix then it will be a hardware issue and will either need a new one or fix the current one.
