One of the door latch arms or the latching mechanism inside the oven have broken. you may have to buy a complete door lock / latching assembly . Might not be worth it. Check with your nearest parts supplier.
Try pushing in on the door while pressing the door release latch;
Also, try pushing the door latch and reach under the front edge of the door and slightly pull as the latch is depressed.
Third option is use a suction cup, maybe from a GPS device on the glass portion of the door, pulling on it while you depress the door latch....let me know any problems or if I can help anymore.
Does microvave button makes sound and when you start push button does the turn table moves.If yes for sound ,and no for turn table then you might have door switch which is either doesent latching or might broke. open oven (be sure to discharge capacitors). check its closing properly(the switch) and use DMM to check resistance that it doesn't show OL
Hello,To get the door open and salvage your dinner, take a long thin blade ( I used a frosting spreader) and insert from the bottom between the door and the oven frame on the side with the latches (usually next to the control panel). You may have to pry the bottom of the door open just a bit. The object is to push up the lower door latch (which is connected to the upper door latch) and manually open the door. You may have to try a few times but this worked perfectly for me and saved dinner. Obviously the door latch needs to be repaired but this solves the immediate problem of dinner being held hostage by a recalcitrant microwave. wish you good luck, take care.
Do not pry the door open since there is an easier remedy which will lead you in the direction that you need to fix your problem. Take the cover off after you disconnect the power to it. Once you have taken the cover off (only a few screws) you will be able to see the two latches that hold the door closed and the link that opens both of them. You can just lift both latches at the same time and it will open. After you have done that take a good look and press in on the open door button and you will see where you have the problem of the door hanging. That button should push a linkage that pushes up on both latches at once to open the door. It is spring loaded so that it comes back down so that when you close the door it will hold the door close.You need to take the cover off the microwave so that you can pull both of the latches that hold the door closed up. When you push the button in it engages a linkage that pushes both taches up at the same time to open the door. It is springloaded and will come back down during normal operation to hold the door closed when you close it again. That area is where your problem is. By looking at what happens when you press the open door button you should be able to readily see where the problem lies in that linkage
If after self cleaning cycle the over door is not getting open.Then in some cases the door latch gets locked and this latch stops functioning so the door does not get open.In this case the front door assembly has to be disassembled and the door latch,it has to be manually triggered/pushed by a screw driver or any such object.So the door latch releases the door to get open.Then refit the parts and check,if the door latch is not functioning as it should be.Then the door latch assembly has to be replaced.After self cleaning,many a times the door latches gets overheated and its connections gets short internally.This is noticed by many other users too.In some cases door latch just gets blocked and triggering it with screw driver,makes it function properly.So disassemble the door and see the condition of door latch.This will help you to decide whether its just locked or got faulty.------------If its got faulty and you require door latch part,then you can get it from the online sites like
www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect site.

This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
I suspect that the lower door latch has broken off. The lower hook is actuated by the push lever and in turn lifts the upper latch that of course is not being lifted. Disconnect from the supply. Remove the case from the microwave and you will see how the door latch actuator works. Lift it manually and you can open the door. Do not try and use the appliance in that condition as it will take out its mains fuse as the door switches and latches for a safety interlock. Hope this helps.
