Sharp R-1850A Convection/Microwave Oven Questions & Answers
Shuts down after 59 sec
Chances are you have a bad damper switch or wiring.
A sample photo is here: http://207.234.249.73/mwd/damper.jpg
It might also be a problem with the humidity sensor or a problem with the control panel, such as corrupted code or bad connections.
We have a sharp R-967
Hi,
I see its some time ago now that you posted this and perhaps you've fixed your micro already or replaced with a new one. I have the same Sharp r-967 microwave which had the same 59 second problem. I researched a bit online found the sevice manuals and tracked the problem down to be the damper motor. I managed to buy one online and replace it quite easily. There are some diagrams online when searching for this problem but for different sharp models where the damper is near the door fixings. Its not the case on r967, its behind the circuit board and easy to remove with a stubby screwdriver. You can find spares from this place. 5 minute job. The 59 second thing is likely to be the either the door switches or the damper motor. Switches are between £5-10. All mine were fine so didnt have to replace any. A quick voltmeter test can check them.

Replace dor latch spring in Sharp Microwave R-1850A
Usually this can be done easily by removing the door unit and removing the panel to the door wherein you will be able to get access to the door lock. If there is no damage to the pivot or the post to hold the lock and spring , you can push the spring and reset.
Need to know if I can convert it to outside vent
This unit has a three way exhaust capability on it. There is a plate on the back that you remove to set the blower housing to back, top or frontal exhaust. You take the plate off and then just lift the blower assy. up and then reset it back into position for the direction that you want. It may be missing the vent louver for outside exhaust if it wasn't left with the unit when it was installed.
Have a Sharp R1870F, no heat and turntable won't
That's almost certainly a bad secondary interlock (bottom door switch) or maybe its mount is misaligned or broken.
Even though a door
switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.
Door switch
or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening
the
door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.
There are
plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and
onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.
The screws on these
mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be
activated properly.
Sometimes it's
a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just
out of position. This tab
can be hard to see, since it is under the
bottom edge of the switch.
If the switch mount is
broken, it's usually more economical and
safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the
switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.
One test that sometimes
helps is to
gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to
start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount
or
door alignment issue.
