I have a Garmin iQue 3600 and it smells like it may have gotten hot or maybe something inside has burnt. It is 3 years old and Garmin had a contract with Palm to repair the units, but now they no longer repair for Garmin
Sounds like your logic board is broken, the smell must be from some shorted out semiconductors in the charging circuitry. This is the only GPS repair shop i've seen that carries the part in stock.
My garmin ique 3600 doesnot shut down...

I feel my money was a waste as I checked out the site in U.K. and they did not list my model Garmin as one they repair. I also found that site myself from Google. They do have an international telephone number that I could call for tech support, but I was wanting someone I could call and talk to and see if this is the model they repair without blindly sending my unit in and paying $50.00 just to have someone they don't repair that model. So therefore I feel that my satisfaction is is definitely is as unsatisfactory and $19,95 wasted.
Very disappointed in Garmin. My wife purchased an IQue 3600A in January 2008. The battery never really charged well in the cradle and finally went completely dead. I used it infrequently only when flying. I went to the Garmin WEB for support and was surprised to find that the unit was discontinued and also no longer supported. It's a pretty expensive paperweight. Pretty surprised that Garmin would take this approach. Now I'm looking for someone to check out and repair the unit. The battery was replaced with a new one and also drained. Mike
