I have a squealing in my engine. I have checked the belts and they are clean and tight. All fluids are full. The noise is not effected by turning the steering wheel, but it starts when you start the car and gets louder as you accelerate. It does not stop at any point until the engine is shut off. Any suggestions?

Had radiator replaced n a bolt put on alternator which is ok. New noise in idle...it squeals. Gets worse when a/c is on. In idle I pop hood N noise goes away. 2006 tiburon 4 cyl auto

Probably should replace the belt. A worn belt will squeal sometimes.'
Another thought is the belt tight enough A belt that is too loose will squeal under stress .

CHEVY C1500 SQUEALING, IDLER PULLEY?

Without hearing the noise I can't tell you for sure but take a spray can of WD40 and with the engine running spray some on the belts if noise goes way that's your problem, if not check the A/C (if you have A/C) the compressor may be binding up causing the belt to squeal due to friction from the tight compressor. To check the compressor remove the belt and turn the A/C pulley by hand (should turn freely) next turn on the key (do not start engine) turn on A/C then turn A/C pulley by hand again. It will be harder to turn but still relativity easy. If it is hard to turn it is beginning to bind.

Toyota Tercel belts are squealing

I have been having the same problem with the alternator belt squealing, most noticeably, when using the heater fan , accelerating, turning the headlights on. I have a 1997 Toyota Tercel CE 1.5L 4cyl with no A/C. I just tightened the belt tight enough that there is no give to the belt and it does not squeal anymore.

I also used a Goodyear Gatorback from Napa belt which seems to be nice and quiet when tight enough.

Power steeering started makin a noise & noise gets louder when turning wheel. Fluid is aerated & if top of resivior removed while engine running fluid flys out. Have recently had new belts fitted...

belts were put on too tight or have gotten too loose after they were replaced. the nuts that hold the parts in place may not have been tight enough causing the parts to move , which loosens the belt. maybe the belts were stretched too tight when replaced,....... either will cause squealing...good luck

When I go to turn the wheel in my 2000 ford ranger I hear loud squealing noises. I checked the power steering fluid and its full. What can it be?The squealing starts as soon as I turn the wheel to the left...

The power steering pump is normally connected or driven by the engine with a V-belt. A loose belt can cause squealing as soon as the power steering come under load (e.g. steering left or right while stopped).

Check the tension on the V-belt directly connected to the power steering pump. This may need replacement.

Hoep this helps.

Loud squealing noises when I turn the wheel of my 2000 ford range

It sounds like the power steering belt is too loose, tighten it up a bit but not too much just enough to make slipping belt stop.

My 2000 Mazda Protege DX has a tight steering. Can

Try turning the wheel when standing still with the engine running.
If it is tight check the obviouse, has the power steering belt come off. If not check if there is fluid in the steering pump resavour. If the belt is on and you have fluid you may have a bad pump.
I hope this helps
