SOURCE: janome straight stitch loose

I don't know if this is the right answer for any of you, but thought I'd put my 2 cents worth in. Often this can be the bobbin in backwards. It needs to unwind a certain way depending on the machine. I've heard a phrase for this: Mind your p's and q's which means some wind off to the right like a q, others to the left like a p. Mine has to unwind one way then be slipped backwards into a little slot or it does that loose bottom thread looping and bunching someone here mentioned. It seems everytime I get that problem I rethread the top thread 100 times before it clicks again and I remember it could be the bobbin thread. Either your manual will tell you the correct way, or you could experiment and try one or the other. Once you figure out whether you're a p or a q, mark it on your machien somewhere to remind yourself.

You should hold the end of the thread coming through the needle until the thread has grasped the bobbin thread.

My brother pe770 is allowing bobbin thread to show on top sporadically which makes the stitching look like it is speckled with white. I have adjusted tension..cleaned and changed everything.

Shelia,

when sewing these parts of the design, (small stitches? ) load your bobbin with the same top thread. Just match the top thread color, and done! No more white bobbin thread in the topside of your designs.

Loosen the top tension a little or tighten the bobbin tension ever so slightly. If that fails you can always color the bobbin threads with a magic marker the same color as the embroidery thread. You might go to Superior Thread's web site and try some prewound bobbins. They are worth their weight in gold. Dr. Bob knows all about all kinds of thread and is very good about answering questions. I think some of his Thread University videos are available too.

The white bobbin thread was showing on the top of the material correct? Make sure bobbin thread is in the tension correctly, check the top thread spool and make sure thread is not caught around it, if you have a manual top tension make sure that is set correctly. Personally I would never use wd40 in a sewing machine, sewing machine specific oil is always better. You seem to be describing two different problems. The thread bunching is probably from the thread jump out of the take up lever.

Brother pe770 bobbin thread is showing on top of fabric.

First check threading. If it is done properly, then it's probably because it is dirty between the lower tension blade and the bobbin case body. Remove this blade, clean, reassemble and it shoud work.

Stitching trouble

Here is a trouble shooting chart - http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/elprojects/SimpleProduct_ELP.aspx?CS_ProductID=PR1238&CS_Catalog=Elprojects

I would start with cleaning (see maintenance section of the user's manual).

This has to be done more often with sewing/embroidery machines that have a drop-in bobbin.

Be sure to use bobbin thread for machine embroidery.

Always thread the machine with the presser foot up. This will insure the thread is seating into the tension control.

I had the same problem with my machine and what was causing the problem was the use of the wrong size bobbin. Check and make sure you are using the right size (type a) and if you can get bobbins already wound it would be better. Hope this will help you

Singer futura ce-200 tension problem

stop, remove all threading, clean machine,be sure to clean the top tenion disks with a thicker thread, change needle, rethread carefully and try a test swatch. If not working still, your tension could be out of adjustment. Adjust top tension until the top thread of your swatch balances with the bottom. Use two contrasting colors of thread so you can know which tension is wrong,
Remove bobbin and dangle by the thread, it should not move untill you jerk it and should drop about 3-4 inches. Adjust small screw until this works. Try another swatch.

Problems

I had the same problem, but I then got a shorter bobbin. what is happening is that the bobbin is too tall and the tread is getting stuck in the bobbin. It helped me from trashing my machine.
