You will need to fully uninstall the garminmapupdater_naeu_g.exe and then reinstall it to correct this problem. Also install free antivirus software and keep that updated and running to prevent bad files from downloading on your harddrive. Click on the link below to read more:

The application is crashing for whatever reason. Uninstall the Web Update Software, restart your computer, and then install it again. This will more than likely solve your problem. Download and install the correct version for your OS. http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27
What operating system (OS) are you running? Between now and answering my question I want you to install this very safe free program.

When installing it watch for the section during the installation and uncheck the Yahoo Toolbar or you will also get it which you do not want. This program will help us to totally uninstall the program and clean out any left over registry entries from the Web Updater which may be causing a problem. As soon as you get it installed open the Tools Section and then click the Uninstall Tab and find the Web Updater in the list of programs. Click it and then click Run Uninstaller on the top right. This will do a much better job of removing the program than Add/Remove in Windows. As soon as it has removed the program click the Registry Tab on the left. Click Scan for Issues. When it finishes the scan click Fix Selected Issues on the bottom right. You can make a backup if you wish but in my 5 years of using this program I have found it to not be necessary as it is a very mild registry cleaner. Let it fix all the issues it finds which may be allot if you have never ran a registry cleaner. Now click the Cleaner Tab on the top left and let it clean out all temporary files on your PC. Let it clean everything out. Once you do all this restart your PC and try installing the software again. This program is very safe to use and will remove all files not needed. It will not only help to clear out any files left over from old software you have removed but will speed up your pc. I will be back online in a few hours.
Hey Mario, you should have version 2.4.2 not version 2.3.0.0 as is indicated in your post. I still need to know what OS you are running? The link I provided takes you to the newest version.
Hey Clay,
Thanks for the response. The strange thing is that I did download and install version 2.4.2 so I can't imagine why the Garminmapupdater_naeu_g.exe error would say 2.3.0.0. Sorry that I neglected to mention that the OS I am running Windows Vista.
Thanks,
Mario
Mario, I am out of ideas other than uninstalling it, running the Registry cleaner in ccleaner and trying it again. The fact that the error is showing a different version that what you downloaded makes me suspect that some part of the program is still on your computer even after your uninstall it. Did you restart after using ccleaner to remove it and clean up the left over registry entries? Try this. Uninstall it and run the registry cleaner in Safe Mode. After you do that run your security scans in Safe Mode just to make sure you are not infected. Then restart your computer and reinstall the program. To get to Safe Mode restart your PC and as soon as you hear or see anything start tapping the F8 key. Continue tapping it until you see Safe Mode screen appear. Choose Safe Mode and nothing else. If this does not work then I suggest you Contact Garmin support.
OK Clay thanks for the suggestions but I did indeed follow your instructions completely. The strange thing is that I never had another Windows OS on this computer, or downloaded any other Web Update software other than the 2.4.2 so I am sure that this is a "glitch" in the "Garminmapupdater_naeu_g.exe" file code. Anyway I will attempt your final recommended process for the "Clean" Uninstall/Reinstall and see what happens.
Thanks,
Mario

Hey Clay thanks for the quick response, but this did not fix my problem. I removed the Garmin Webupdater application and then shutdown and restarted and reinstalled the "WebUpdater.exe" for my correct windows and I still have the same problem.
Hello Clay,
I followed your last set of instructions. I downloaded CCleaner, installed the program, and used the program as you instructed to remove the WebUpdate program from the registry. I then redownloaded my Map Update file to make things as clean as possible. Unfortunately I have the same Gramin Map Updater problem.
