I had the HP Photsmart 2710 connected via USB to my desktop. I also had a network setup whereby my laptop which was wirelessly connected to the network print to the 2710 since it was a shared device. My desktop died, and I removed the usb connection off the 2710 and connected it to my wireless router. From the laptop I can ping it. it has an IP address, but when I try to added it as a printer via my laptop the list of printers Windows XP has listed the 2710 is not among them. I no longer have the the CD that came with the printer and though I've downloaded the latest software for the 2710 from HP its an executable file that installs the HP Director. When I indicate that I have software for the device (2710) and specify the folder for the HP director, Windows XP SP-2 doesnt recognize it. I went through a number of HP printers that appear in the windows list and have found the HP Office JET LX to at least print black and white prints. So I have connection files get printed but not as though it is a HP 2710 printer. Can you please assist me?
