My Kenmore refrigerator's ice maker is dripping at the front of the ice maker. it drips slowly but makes a big chunk of ice right at the front of the bucket. What should I do?

This is pretty generic without a model # but holds true with alot of them..this type of icicle is usually caused by water overflowing the ice mold of the ice maker module. The reason for the overflow could be that the ice maker module is not level. Check to see if it is tilting. This could be caused by loose screws or a warping of the liner on the side wall of the freezer.

If the ice maker is level, then the next cause could be that the ice maker is overfilling. There is an adjustment screw on the right side of the front of the ice maker module. You may have to remove the cover from the front of the module to access this screw. Turn the screw counterclockwise to decrease the water fill. Turning this screw one turn may decrease the water fill level in the mold enough to prevent the leaking. If not, you may need to make a second adjustment.

Other problems that could cause this icicle could include:

Wicking of the water over the top of the ice maker mold caused by hard water deposits in the mold.

Leaking of the ice maker water solenoid valve.

Crack or leak in the ice maker module.

If the module is level and decreasing the water fill level does not solve your ice maker problem, then I recommend checking the ice mold for hard water deposits. If you find no deposits in the mold (or clean them and still have the same problem), then you will probably need a service technician to fix the ice maker. if you need more help, re-submit your question with additional details.

How do I get the ice maker to produce for the first time

Is the arm that gets pushed up by the ice cubes (in order to stop making ice when it is full) in the down position? it is able to be pushed up and locked so that the icemaker doesn't make at ice and may need to be pushed down.

The ice maker is not making any ice

Hi rlh2004,

There are several factors why a refrigerator tops making ice. We will look on the most common factors and give you some troubleshooting that you can do to fix the issue. Before doing any checking or repair please unplug the refrigerator, remember your safety.

1. Check the shut-off arm - An arm extends away from the ice maker over the ice cube bin. During each ice making cycle, the arm rises up and then drops back down after the new ice is dumped into the ice cube bin. For proper operation, confirm that arm is in the lowered position and that nothing is blocking it from normal movement.
The arm is supported at one or both ends. One end extends into the back of the front support. If it is not securely in place, it could cause the ice maker to malfunction. Confirm that the arm is securely in place. To test the shutoff function, lift the arm up into the manual shutoff position. Recheck the unit later to confirm that no ice is being made.

2. Check the water supply line - The water supply line connects to a supply valve usually found under the kitchen sink or behind the freezer. If the valve is not turned to a position which allows for enough pressure, the water may not fill the ice mold.
Check that the water valve is opened to allow enough water to fill the ice mold. You can open the valve all the way but it is better if you open it just enough to provide the adequate pressure level.
You can also inspect the water supply line for dents or pinching that might restrict the flow of water to the icemaker.

3. Check the freezer temperature - The ideal temperature for the freezer is about 5 degrees (F). The refrigerator should be kept at about 36 degrees (F). The temperature can be adjusted using the controls found inside the freezer or refrigerator.

Hope it helps.

Ice maker is not working.

Ice maker has built in thermostat that turns cycle on at around 10 degrees F. If freezer temp does not reach that point the ice maker will not cycle. So either the freezer is not cold enough or the thermostat is faulty.

Make sure that the ice maker motor that turns the cams and controls the various stages is also working.

The icemaker in my freezer has a slow drip. The water then freezes in the ice bin. Why is it dripping, and how can I fix it?

Good day,
The most common reason is the ice maker is overfilling because the water valve in the bottom rear of the refrigerator leaks on the off cycle, and needs replaced.

Make sure the machine is level and the ice maker is mounted in the freezer properly to keep it level.

Also, make sure the fill pipe going into the back of the ice maker is properly positioned.

The Ice maker body could have failed but is very rare.

Ice maker has stoped making ice. The bar that cuts it off when enough ice is made moves a little while in the up position.

lifting the bar to the full up position is how you stop the ice maker from making ice. move the bar back down and ice making will resume.

Ice maker not working

Hello.

First of all you need make sure that your freezer is freezing enough. Sometimes everything will seem to be freezing ok, but it won’t be cold enough to make the icemaker work. The best way is to squeeze your ice cream, if you have any that is.

Then you need to make sure that the ice level sensing arm is in the down/on position.
Also make sure that the ice bucket is positioned properly so as to trigger the ice bucket sensing switch.

If all of this checks out ok, let me know and I can guide you through an icemaker diagnosis by forcing it into a harvest mode.
