Hi, have tested the charger if it is working? if you test the charger with another phone and is working perfectly then the charging port of your phone is bad. the charging port is the port where you insert the charger. try and get a new charging port and replace with the bad one, the phone will charge. thanks for using fixya.

There is an internal battery on the base unit, I am not sure if there is a door for it on this model. For the hand helds just remove the battery for a while.
How are you trying to get an outside line? By dialing 9? If the host system happens to be a TA series, you have to tell it how many lines you have, or that you don't have lines that have hardware ports but no dial tone, since systems select outside lines from the top down.
From System programming, program 400 defines connected lines.
If you have a multi-tester, check the voltage on the battery packs. The voltage should be equal to or greater than the voltage listed on the battery pack. If the voltage on the packs is too low, either the battery packs are defective or the charging systems of the phones are not operating properly. If the phones are not charging properly, it is likely not cost effective to try to get it repaired.
Take the battery out and take it to Walmart or Radio Shack. A lot of times you won't find that exact model number but the batteries they sell are exactly the same.
The Number kx-a276 is just the Panasonic model number for a battery many other phones use. On the back of the battery package replacement you should see "kx-a276" listed.
