If you are just hooking up your modem you do not need to wory about what USB port you plug in to. You can plug it in to any port that you would like. The computer will detect the modem and help you set it up.

Ok for the speakers you plug them in to the green jack that has the head phones picture.

  • Anonymous May 17, 2010

Go to the link below and you would plug the speakers in the I port.

I have a modem arris cm450b, i bought splitter to use 2 cables but the the cable connected to my sons computr isn't working

That is not the right way to do it. Connect one computer to the cable modem using an USB A/B cable from the USB port on the modem to an available USB port on the computer and connect the second computer to the modem Ethernet port-to-Ethernet port using an Ethernet cable (probably the modem came with one Ethernet cable).

Hope this helps.

I have a Dell dimension 350 pc with just a modem connection for a phone line. I just got cable installed which has the ethernet hookup. i would like to still use my 350 with win. 98 if i can. how can i...

Does your cable modem have wireless internet? If so, you can buy a Netgear wireless usb port adapter for about $20 and use that to connect wirelessly to the internet. Your pc has usb port connections - right? (Usb port looks like a rectangle)

If you don't want to use a wireless connection you can purchase a cable modem with a usb connection for about $65. You run the ethernet cable to the modem and then a usb cable from the modem to your pc.

If you have a serial cable connection on your pc (looks like a round circle with tiny metal pins in it) you can buy a gender changer and convert that to usb (in case you dont have a usb connection or need another one). You can buy one for about $11.

You can buy an I/O Gear bluetooth usb adapter for $13 and pick up the internet via bluetooth by putting it in your usb port but I'm unsure how well it would work with Win 98.

If you have another pc that has an ethernet connection you could use good old fashioned bi directional printer cable and network both computers together. You may need to upgrade to win xp for networking capabilities.

Sb5120

1.screw the cable line into the (F-connector)port in the back of the modem just like a tv does.2.then use the RJ-45 lan cable supplied with the modem, plug it into the RJ-45 port in the back of the modem.3.then plug the other end of the cable into the computers RJ-45 port.4.then power on the modem by pluging it in,and letting it boot and detect the internet signal and all lights are on and in working order.then start surfing. The only time you will need the install cd is if you need to use the usb hook up on the modem.

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.

Zebra 105SE 25 pin serial cable

error can be on the pc.side or the printer's:

check

- if in windows the LPT ports are addressed properly (if u got a many usb ports, then windows adresses these first and skips the older lpt's- same applies when using an external usb-hub/splitter!)

- that there are no dma or irq conflicts
(see device manager)
- if the right driver is installed, if it suits the windows version u are using/has been written for it

- doublecheck printer against another printer
on your pc using same port

- and/or try to connect it to another pc

so u make sure on which side the error ocurs!

least: check the cable itself

Need to hook up Belkin G wireless router to Motorola SB5120

Plug your cable line into your modem, make sure it's tight, but don't use a tool. Next plug the ethernet line from the modem to your PC ethernet port. Then plug in your power to the modem. Allow your modem to sync. Don't use the USB line at all. Do not even hook it up unless your computer doesn't have a working ethernet line. Don't run the disk either, it will only install the modem driver that is only used if you use USB.

If you have issues connecting after that, you may have to go into your ethernet adapter settings and make sure that it is using DHCP. DSL usually uses a different setting (PPP I think) and you will not be able to connect.

By the way, excellent choice in modems.

Ethernet Port seems to be a failure, but the USB works fine

I managed to fix the problem manually using a computer kit I had.
The problem was the Ethernet port on the modem was messed up
you should check if the small wires are on the back are all facing towards the top if not you should try to fix its actually pretty easy
no need to pay for a repair :D

Setting up linksys adsl2 modem

The ADSL, Ethernet, and USB ports are located at the back of a Linksys modem. These ports are where the phone cable and computer will be connected. The ADSL Line should be connected to the ADSL port and the computer either be connected to Ethernet or the USB port., If u r using a ethernet cable no need to run the setup cd just connect the ethernet cable and contact ur isp..
do not worry about ur sagem modem, let it be inside.. just connect ethernet cables alone..
