My computer is not working

Please check in to your Bios system maybe share memory Video or capacity is setting

Since you are comfortable with working inside your computer, the best thing to do now is to purchase an external enclosure for your type of hard drive, SATA or EIDE.

Alternately you can use a live linux cd, boot up with that, and transfer your data to an external drive.

Once your data is safe, try booting to the Windows cd and attempt a repair installation.

And finally, yes, hard drives can go bad in 2 years or less.

whats power supple do you have? i have a 8500gt and it needs at least a a 350 watt most of those dells have a 305 watt upgrade to a bigger supple hope this helps

i reccomend combo fix and clamwin, combofix, is dangerous if not run right but you can find it online with a user guide. clamwin is just a free antivirus. you can also download loaris or trojan hunter but that costs money to purchase. To Update Your Windows Media player download the K-Lite codex which will come with its own player and its better than VLC player, the only advantage VLC has is that one can easily integrate subtitles of all formats, other than that K-Lite is better. Hope it helps, Goodluck =)

I had the same issue with my Dell Dimension 5150 and I replaced the front I/O USB Audio Panel and it booted right up.

Completely uninstall the software, reboot the computer then reinstall. I recommend that you download the newest version from itunes.com

Solution:
Well i could recommend another free video player instead of Windows Media Player 11. In this case, try installing Real Alternative, VLC, GoomPlayer all lf them support DVDs format.

I recommend Real Alternative over all 3 of them, to get it go here:
1) http://www.videohelp.com/tools/real_alternative and click on the "Download (mirror)".
2) after download is complete start the installation make sure to UNCHECK the following checkmarks during installation: Active X, and pluggin for firefox/opera/chrome/etc. you can leave the rest of the installation as default and click next all the time.
3) whenever you want to play a DVD close WMP 11 start Media Player Classic (installed during the real alternative installation, there should be a shourcut icon on your desktop for Real Player Classic now) on Media Player Classic go to File>Open DVD and you should have picture and sound.

Another extra side note of Real Alternative is that you can also play real media files (.rm, .rmvb) without having to install the nasty Real Media Player application

2. If your computer cover has a cover latch, slide and hold the cover latch.
3. Grip the indents on the computer cover, and slide the computer cover toward the back of the computer.

Place the computer cover on a level surface.

You need to install the right drivers for your video card. If a CD came with the video card that should have the drivers on it. If you do not have the CD then goto the manufacturer's web site for the drivers. If you have the drivers installed check for any updates at the manufacturer's web site too.

Unless it's available to download you can't. You need the file on your computer to put in on a CD. A web site just plays it.

if you bought the computer new or the DVD drive new , you whould have got a CD with it , most probably with something like WinDVD or something , if you have the specific CD with DVD software on it install it , as it will enable you to watch DVD's using Windows media player etc..

if you bought the computer second hand etc.. and or cant find the cd's a free solution is to download VLC media player (Download here) the only disadvantage about using this free solution is that you will have to play the DVD's through VLC you wont be able to use windows media player etc. to play DVD's as VLC does not require decoder software to play DVD's

otherwise you can purchase software such as WinDVD and this will enable you to play using your media player of choice.

What are your PC specs for RAM and CPU speed? VLC player is an amazing player. Are you saying this player is jerky on the same videos that another player was NOT jerky on? That seems very odd. I have yet to experience a jerky playback on VLC for movies (mostly HD).

Is your PC doing something else in the background while attempting to play the movies? Hit Control, Shift, Escape while playing a movie and look on the bottom at how much CPU % the PC uses before and during movie playback.

try to go to this site and download the software here, install it and play all the dvds using it.
