OK the ice maker is the boss. It calls for water. Nothing else in the ice box controls the ice maker water but the ice maker itself. How? Fancier models use capacitance of ice mold to correctly fill the ice mold. On board intel monitors the temp of the ice mold by sending power through it and checking for differences in capacitance in the mold. When it hits the sweet spot it monitors the temp till it temps inside the mold determine ice is there and kicks in the harvest cycle. Older styles simply put a measured amount of water into the ice mold at the end of each harvest cycle. You gotta first run a water line to the water valve and then run a line from the water valve up to the Ice Maker fill spout behind the ice box. Nothing to it.

SOURCE: HOOK UP OF ICE MAKER TO THE WATER LINE

At the back bottom of the fridge there will be a coil solenoid. If your appliance is ice make ready this will be there, these coils have a bracket that has fitting for a water connection. Get a 1/4 tube with a ferrell and nut. slide them on the tube and connect to the fitting.

SOURCE: ice maker stopped making ice.

Ice maker stopped making ice. For this problem you have check few things. First thing, is the water filling in the ice maker chamber and then ice maker not making ice? Or, the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber so it's not making ice. If the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber then it's clear that ice is not getting made due to no water in the chamber. For no water filling, the problem is either water supply valve turned off so water is not filling. Turn on the water supply and it will fill. But if the water supply is turned on then the other possibility is ice blockage in the water fill tube. There is a tube from which the water runs and enters the ice maker chamber. If this tube is blocked then water will not enter the chamber. The tube needs to be defrosted, by using hair dryer. This procedure melts the ice collected in the tube and water starts running again. But if water fill tube is completely clear and no ice blockage or any other blockage. Then other possibility is water valve at the back of ice maker unit. This water valve is for letting the water in the ice maker. The water valve open only for 7 seconds and in this time the water fills in the ice maker chamber and then water valve closes and the same procedure runs again in the next water filling cycle.------- For your information I will mention that there are two valves. One is the main valve the back of the fridge section. This main valve lets the water enter the refrigerator and other valve is at the back of ice-maker section. This other valve lets the water to enter the ice maker. In most of the cases the fault is water valve at the back of ice maker section. ------------- The other above possibilities which I gave you is water not filling in ice-maker chamber so it's not making ice. But now consider that water is filling in ice maker chamber but it's still not making ice. Then the problem is ice maker unit itself. This unit is controlled by main board. But in most cases if water is filling the ice maker but it's not making ice then its faulty ice maker unit. So see if the problem is water not entering the ice maker then the water fill tube is frosted by ice or the water valve at the back of ice maker is faulty. Replace the valve. ------------But if ice is getting made in the ice tray, but the ice is not ejecting out then there is blockage to the ice ejecting blade.May be some ice is got stuck below inside.Clear all ice frost collected under the ice chamber. And then see.---------------

You can get required parts from sears part direct online site or from repairclinic.com site.

This will help. Thanks. Helpmech.

Hooked up water line and ice maker, water working notice maker. Any ideas?

Make sure wire loop extending out from the ice maker over the ice bin is pushed down. Up turns the ice maker off.

Without more info, I can't diagnose further.
Stick finger in ice tray where ice freezes. Is there water in there. No, check solenoid valve and water line to ice maker (kinks). Is there ice cubes in ice tray? Is ice maker pushed fully in? All wires to ice maker on back and underneath connected?

If this information was useful, please select YES to the first two rating questions. Good Luck and thank you!

Icemaker does not make much ice

Could possibly be a temperature sensor, but most likely the heating coil that heats the ice receptacles is burned out. The ice maker needs this heater to momentarily heat the walls of the ice receptacles so that the ice will easily come out of them.

Sorry, but this usually means a new ice maker. They're pretty easy to install and really don't cost that much (less than $150).

HOOK UP OF ICE MAKER TO THE WATER LINE

What you have in the back is a 1/4 tube which will feed cold water to the icemaker.

go to any hardware store and ask for an icemaker supply line kit. It will consist of a tapping valve, about ten feet of 1/4 inch tubing and a straight connector.

it will also contain step by step instructions.

You will have to determine what cold water line to tap into that is accessable. Perhaps the kitchen sink cold water supply if it is on the same wall as the refrigerator. Many times the line is run up from the basement.

enjoy your new icemaker.

How to hook up Ice & Water dispenser on freezer door

The water valve is on the back of the refrigerator. The water line connects directly to that valve. If there is no line available then you will need to run one from a cold water line in the plumbing using a drill type (1/4") saddle valve on that pipe. Hope this helps.
