On the ALPS 5500 printer the print que does not empty after a print job has finished and I can not delete or cancel out the print job.
This must be a comon problem. I have a new Alps 5500 printer and have experienced the same problem.
I have tried using a USB printer cable to print but after printing a few files the printer fails to remove the file from the printer Que. The only way I have found that I can remove the file is to remove the printer drivers and reinstall them again.
I tried the directions that “Pineworks” gave to another person with the same problem without success. (start/run and typing I “service.msc” and then going to the print spooler. I then went to prosperities and recovery tab and changed all three drop-down boxes to “Restart the service”. After that I stopped and restarted the print spooler)
I then tried using a Parallel printer cable and had problems with it also
Option 1: Parallel printer cable
If I use a parallel printer cable and install the print drivers before plugging in the printer and turning it on, a window opens up entitled “Print to file”. Inside the window the curses is flashing next to a line entitled “output file name”. I have tried giving the output file a name and clicking OK but the file never prints.
If I use a parallel printer cable and let windows find the new device and then install the printer drivers, I get a “Printer Error Message” that reads “ Change printer Port to MD_LPTx. I have tried changing the printer port with no success.
Option 2: USB printer cable
I have tried using a USB printer cable to print but after printing a few files the printer fails to remove the file from the printer Que. The only way I have found that I can remove the file is to remove the printer drivers and reinstall them again.
Hi there
You can try see if this may do it.
Go to Start / Run and type in "services.msc" without quotation marks, then press Enter or click OK.
In the window that opens (Services) look for "Print Spooler" on the right
Right-click "Print Spooler" and select "Properties".
Click on the "Recovery" tab and change all 3 drop-down boxes to "Restart The Service".
Make sure the 2 text boxes underneath say "1" in them.
Click Ok until you are back at the Services window, close it and you're good to go.
Go back into the properties of the "Print Spooler" tab and be sure to click Start to restart the Print Spooler service and it will restart the service immediately.
The Print spooler depends on the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service. Is this service disabled? Go to services.msc look for RPC. Check state: Automatic
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.
All The Best: Pineworks
Try using the property settings for the printer. I'm using Win XP SP2. Go to Printers and Faxes, and right click the ALPS 5500 printer. The properties setting should be at the bottom of the menu. Alternatively, you can access the printer properties settings when in application by clicking on File, Print, and then properties.
1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the
print spooler service)
2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\
folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the
time you tried to print - delete these files.
3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the
print spooler service)
4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right
corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View ->
Refresh.
I hope this information has been helpful.
