go to www.lexmark.com click on drivers and downloads then click on OS compatibility lists. Click on MAC OS X and then click on home or small office/home office. This will take you to a complete list of compatible drivers for the MAC OS X for all of lexmarks printers. If it does not appear then there are no MAC OS drivers. Which I looked at for you and they do not have any. But you will see a list for the printers that they do have them for.

1. First count the number of times the light on the front of your printer flashes.
2. Then refer to the table below for information about the error condition and recommended recovery procedures.
   
   Number of Flashes Error Condition Error Recovery 2 Carrier Stall:
   The movement of the print cartridge carrier has been obstructed. Remove any objects blocking the carrier path.
   4 Print Incomplete:
   The print cartridge carrier stopped in the middle of a print job due to obstruction. Remove any objects blocking the carrier path.
   12 Cartridge Short:
   The printer has detected a short circuit in a cartridge.
   1. Turn the printer off.
   2. Open the front cover.
   3. Turn the printer back on.
   4. Remove the color cartridge.
   5. Close the cover. If there are no flashing lights, the color cartridge is short-circuited.
   6. Remove the black cartridge and then reinsert the color cartridge.
   7. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the black cartridge is short-circuited.
   8. If you continue to receive an error indicated by flashing lights, both cartridges are short-circuited.

How to Clean Print Heads Method 1 of 5: Self Clean Program for Windows XP/Vista Users 1 Open the control panel menu and select "printers." 2.Choose the printer to be cleaned and right click. Select "properties" in the drop-down menu. 3. Choose the tab for cleaning. Various printers might have it listed under different names such as services, cleaning or maintenance. 4. Select the nozzles that should be cleaned, if applicable to your printer, and run the printer's cleaning program. 5. Print a test page and check results. Repeat cleaning 2 to 3 times if needed. Method 2 of 5: Self Clean Program for MAC Users 1. Click on "system preferences" and select "open print and fax." 2. Choose the printer that needs to be cleaned and open "Open Print Queue" or "Print Queue." 3. Click the utility icon for the applicable printer and select "maintenance." Select "cleaning" from the pop-up menu and click "OK." You might have to choose the tank you want to have cleaned. 4. Run the head cleaning program and print out a test page. Repeat cleaning 2 to 3 times if needed. Method 3 of 5: Manual Cleaning 1. Check your printer's owner manual for the location of your print head. Refer to the directions below if the head is in the printer and not part of the individual ink cartridges. 2. Remove the ink cartridges and dab hot water or isopropyl alcohol onto a cotton swab. 3. Rub the swab against the print head to loosen dried ink. You can also use a dropper to drip 7 to 10 drops of the isopropyl alcohol into the ink receptacle if your print head is deep in the printer. 4. Run the printer's own cleaning program 2 times and then let the printer sit overnight. Repeat the self-cleaning utility the next day. Method 4 of 5: Cartridge With Print Head

1. 1Soak the ink cartridge in a bowl of hot water overnight if your print head is inside the cartridge.
2. 2Remove the cartridge from the water and dry it thoroughly with a paper towel.Put it back into the printer and run the cleaning program. Repeat 1 time if it does not work.
3. 3Place the ink cartridge into a bowl of isopropyl alcohol and let it soak overnight if the hot water soak did not work.
4. 4Remove the cartridge and wipe it off with a damp towel before drying it.Attempt the self-cleaning program again. If it does not work this time, you probably need a new cartridge

Method 5 of 5: The Vacuum method

1. 1I replicated the way the printers themselves try tho clean the cartridges
2. 2Using a Vacuum cleaner hose
3. 3attach the printer cartridge to the vacuum cleaner hose with the cartridge upright, nozzle down using plasticine or blu-tack
4. 4for no more than a few seconds at a time turn on the suction , regulate using the suction or curtains regulator on the vacuum cleaner.
5. 5Repeat if necessary
6. 6if the print cartridge is cleaned , ink will be visible , if its a multicolour cartridge the resultant ink will be black if all 3 jets are clean
7. 7wipe off the residue ink with tissue or toilet roll .
8. 8Refit & print test page as per other comments .
9. 9This definitely worked for me and has no know side effects apart from the odd inky finger !

Tips

• Print a page every 2 weeks or so and turn off your printer when it's not in use to keep the print heads from clogging.

1. Go to the Lexmark Find Drivers/Product Selector page.
2. Enter Lexmark Z640 under "Search by Model", and click the Search button.
3. Select your OS from the dropdown (XP, Vista etc.).
4. Click Download Now.
5. If you're asked to Save or Run, choose to Run (it keeps you from having to go find the file and double-click it later).

Print quality issues can be due to clogged print cartridge nozzles. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:

1. Try to remove the cartridges from your printer
2. Close the printer cover.
3. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.
4. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges.
5. Your printer will then try to print an alignment page. It will help clean the cartridge nozzles.
6. After the alignment page comes out, try to print a document again to verify if problem is resolved.

If the problem continues, try to launch the Lexmark Solution Center on your computer. Go to Maintenance and select Clean Cartridge.
You can also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if it's a cartridge problem.

Instead of using a disk just install the drivers from the lexmark website, by visiting it and looking up your model number. If you absolutely need the disk you can probably contact someone at Lexmark and get it sent to you.

Try to clear the print queue first before sending a new print job. Follow these steps to clear print jobs stuck in the print queue(for Windows):

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER" (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder

3. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

4. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET START SPOOLER" (this will restart the print spooler service)

5. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.

If a page ejects and the cartridge carrier moves, then its unlikely to be the cable. It has to be something in the ink delivery system. Make sure the cartridges are seated properly.
Shut off everything disconnect the cable from the printer to the computer.
It is either a USB cable or a larger cable.

Hold down the top button and turn on the printer only.

It should do a self test.

If this does not work check manual for self-test

If it prints correctly then the problem is installation or cable
