The foot pedal for my sewing machine is not working, but there is power into my machine.

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.

You only need to replace the cord if it has been damaged. It will cost less if you just take the machine , cord and control to a local technician and have him just replace the foot control. Let him test it first. A generic foot control should cost less than $30.

There is no suppressor in the foot control of a 425. Only the control unit, which may need to be replaced. If the machine accelerates to full speed, it may have a problem with the "stop right" board which tells the machine whether to stop with the needle up.
You could have several problems, so go see a qualified Husqvarna repairman. You may contact Husqvarna customer service to locate the best one in your area.

I have a very old Necchi machine and I need a new belt for it.

If you can get acess to or borrow another foot pedal to try I would do this first any of the Activa, Artista range fit to try. The fault may not be in the foot pedal but in the main CB of the machine. This can give a fualt of lights on but no motor drive. In this case the board would need replacing by a technician. Hope this may help.

Well, now I feel like an idiot. It's because I didn't have the foot press in the down position. I'm sewing heavy upholstery material and I didn't realize I didn't have the foot down. Once I figured that out, it works fine. Thanks for the suggestion.
Does not work, no power to machine, taken apart no problem
