When I turn the power on my microtek 211 sd monitor it will make a popping noise and that is all it will do. I have emailed microtek support and received no reply, called them and waited for 45 minutes on hold and still did not speak to anyone at microtek. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for troubleshooting
Guest: I had the exact same problem with an identical monitor, Located the defective capacitors and replaced them. However, finding the exact type was very hard to do 1000MFD 25v 105 degrees C. I was able to make the monitor work today with a similar component with a rating of 1000MFD 25v 85 degrees C. I am hoping that this will do the job. Novice
Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!
It sounds like you might have blown out a capacitor, located in the heart of the monitor circuitry. WARNING: do not attempt to access this yourself due to the high likelyhood of electrocution to you and others around you. You'll be fried faster than a piece of chicken from KFC.Step 1. If you decide to disregard this warning, wear protective eyewear and do not stand in a puddle of water while working on your monitor.Step 2. Before beginning circuit repair, unplug your monitor from the outlet and let it sit for at least 75 days to give time for all stored electricity to drain out.Step 3. Using a trial and error method, guess which capacitor is working improperly and replace it.Once repairs are complete, plug your monitor back in and see if its working correctly. If not, repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 until it does.Hope this helps.- The Fixfox
