How do we connect our system using a Shaw PVR

Do you have a optical/coaxial input on your system? Eg: cable, TV.I use a optical input on my Yamaha ( cable, satellite ). Look to see if there is a optical/coaxial output on your pvr, there should be. Use ether the optical or coaxial output from your pvr and connect it to the cable (satellite ) optical/coaxial input on your receiver. The manual that came with your Shaw PVR should explain how. You will get 5.1 surround if available on certain channels.I prefer optical over coaxial myself, but they both work well.If you don't have optical/coaxial inputs on your receiver, you will have to use RCA cables, analogue out on cable box, to tape input or aux on your receiver. You will not get surround sound, just stereo. But it's better than nothing.

The optical digital input is not lit up in the back of my dvd player. I am trying to play connect it to my digital cable box, which does have a lit up optical plug.

You need to select the digital input after you connect an input source.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Samsung-HT-Q45T-Home-Theater-Systems-manual/id/287bh742/t/2/

Optical signal strength is sensitive to small-radius bends in the cable.

DON'T LOOK DIRECTLY INTO AN OPTICAL CABLE or PORT.

Can not get sound to play through the AUX optical input, the line has a red dot showing it has "power" before i plug it into the 321 but nothing plays. i put a DVD in to check that the...

The optical input needs to be assigned to an input. The default is "none". Set the system up as if you were going to watch a DVD. Press "System" on the remote (it's recessed). And on screen menu should come up. Move to the right and highlight "Media Center". Scroll down to "Optical Source". Choose the input you want. When done press "Exit" on remote.

How to hook it up to new emerson tv without s-viedo connection

Hi,here is my solution...
If you want to listen your TV on your Stereo system thru your receiver,
** you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your TV
** to "AUX input " or "TV" OR "Any input" of your receiver ( except Phone ) or "Optic Cable input"
** than just switch to respective mode on RECEIVER corresponding your RCA or Optic connection...
There you go..Your TV sound is on the Receiver..
----------------------------
If you want to display your DVD on the TV,than do everything visa versa..as;
**connect "Video Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your Receiver
** to "Video input " or "Optic Cable input"
of your TV and make a selection corresponding input of TV
Hope this helps!
Take care and please

I have an optical cord plugged into my bose system but when i change it to aux it doesnt work

Using the remote control, and the on-screen settings menu, you must set OPTICAL as your AUX input. After this is done, Your Bose Lifestyle system will recognize the signal on the optical input.

Digital optical

You must go in to the menu on your amp and select the optical input for that device. Most are default rca but it is a simple change.

Is Sony DAV-S500 optical input compatible with optical output from Pioneer DVD player DV-566K?

I don't think this has an Optical but a Coaxial connection. You might try a coaxial audio cable not optical.
