Part of the picture is being cut off, how do i

When the TV is turned onto any HD channels part of the picture is cut off at the top of the screen and at the bottom. So when I am watching sports the score is completely cut off or I can only see half of it. The TV is only two years old, what can I do?

Just called Sony about this same problem...taking your CABLE BOX remote, push the # key on the bottom right of the remote (it also says HD Zoom on mine). You can cycle through 4 or 5 zoom options...make sure you are on an HD channel to see the changes. :)

FOR DISH CUSTOMERS, USE THE " * /FORMAT" KEY. PUSH THE KEY TILL THE PICTURE IS CORRECT

How are you getting HD picture to the TV..?

Ensure that if sky HD for example, the SKY HD output settings are set to 16:9 aspect ratio.

Also check the Auto format option and others inside the sceren menu menu are set and that the 4:3 option is set to default.

Attempt to use the screen aspect ratio button on TV remote also (box with arros pointing out of top, bottom and both side)., however, i belive whilst in HDMI input this button doesn't function.

How to get full picture on my tv?

First, ensure your tv is using the highest resolution possible (Usually 1080 for flat screens) by using an HDMI cable from the receiver to the television, and that you are on the correct input. Second, ensure your tv is not sizing the video by using the 'picture size' or 'aspect' or 'ratio' key on the remote that came with your tv (Not your DISH remote). Third, tune your DISH receiver (with your DISH remote) to an HD channel (for VIP model receivers, when you tune the channel to an HD channel, an opaque white 'HD' appears insude the blue box at the top of the screen). Fourth, hit the star key on the remote, while watching the screen. On the right hand side, near the top, it will cycle as you hit repeatedly the star key, the style of screen widening. Hit the key as often as you need to make the screen appear the way you want it to. The receiver will remember your setting for all HD channels. When finished with the HD channel, tune your receiver (with your DISH remote) to a SD channel (any channel in the guide that does not have the HD icon). Repeat the fourth step.

For Hopper/Joey family receivers, hit menu, settings, screen size. Follow the instructions to resize your screen to match your preference. When finished, repeat step four above on each an HD and a SD channel.

E472VL picture on HD cable channels does not fit screen correctly-how can we fix it?

Consult the manual---the answer lies in the size controls being grayed out so you cannot adjust or try to adjust the vertical size!

With my Sony Bravia 46" xbr the screen keeps cutting out. I'm usig hdmi cables and can't find a reason why te tv keeps cutting out. The sound still remains but picture doesn't. Not even out technician can...

Usually this happens to my set when I am in HD cable channel mode after being on a non-digital ANALOG channel.

I basically reset the TV by changing to a DIGITAL cable channel -- stay on that channel for ten-twenty seconds -- then I switch back DIRECTLY to a HD channel (key in channel number directly on remote).

TV works fine -- seems to be a glitch when the TV changes modes from Analog to HD

Heads cut off on the screen

Ocean's Eleven. Best remake movie, I think.
I believe your TV is in "ZOOM" mode for the screen. This will make a 4x3 picture come up closer to fill in the 16x9 screen, but this cuts off the top and the bottom.
Keep pressing the WIDE button on your remote until the picture looks best.
If you have HD channels, the screen mode should be on NORMAL. HD channels will have the 16x9 screen format.

The non-HD channels will have 4x3 screen format. When the screen mode is on NORMAL, you will have the cut off picture on the sides because the 4x3 format will not fill in a 16x9 screen.

I have a 42'' dynex tv, without an instruction manual. The picture is too large for the tv and I need to find out how to fix the pixels, I have tried every button and even all the choices in the menu....

You can get your manual here:
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Dynex-DX-LCD42HD-TVs-manual/id/22974bh131/t/2/
This is for the DX-LCD42HD-09.

The ZOOM button on the top of the remote is the one you want to keep pressing until you get the picture size you want.
If you are using a HDMI cable for HD, the HD channels should fill in the screen automatically. The non-HD channels would have the empty spaces on the sides for 4:3 screen format.
Best to keep it on normal mode, so the top and the bottom don't get cut off.

RCA D56W20 picture problems

More information is required to properly troubleshoot this problem. How is your television connected when you are watching HD? Do you have HDMI for this, do you have a satellite or digital cable box? For analogue are you using regular coax antenna (cable TV), or are you going through a cable or satellite box?
This could be related to the aspect ration setting. perhaps you ahve changed your aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 or some other setting. If you are connected via HDMI, then the digital signal may be "normalizing" your picture during HD, but reverting back to the other setting.

Check you video settings very carefully. HD televisions are very difficult to tweak properly.

Picture issues

Greetings caesar975,

Unfortunately if you chose to view the non HD channels in wide screen format, you are going to have the top and bottom of the screen cut off. Eventually this will not be a problem when everything goes to digital. However presently non HD channels are presented in 3:2 ratio where as HD is 16:9, So your choice really is to view them with the lines on either side for now.

I do not have an answer for the white flickering lines.

To get the BEST picture out of your 1080p unit I highly recommend using HDMI cables to hook it up.

I hope some of this helps.

Sincerely,

Dorothy

Aspect ratio problems on Samsung LN-S2651D Flat Panel TV

The aspect ratio (zoom) button on the cable remote had been changed. On Brighthouse the # button toggles through the zoom settings. It's not a tv issue, it's a cable fix.

Cannot change channels in digital mode

Solution that worked for me:

Beware: Although the process should be safe, it technically voids your warranty.

Enter the service menu:
1 - turn of tv with remote
2 - press and release in the following order on the remote: Info, Menu, Mute. Make sure remote is pointing at the tv
3 - turn on the tv from the remote
4 - you will see the service menu. using the down arrow on the remote select the Reset option. Using the right arrow button at this point will do a hard reset.
5 - Wait a few seconds, turn TV on
6 - you will have to rescan analogue and digital channel but it should be working now.
