So my split fridge and freezer broke. the freezer works fine but the fridge doesnt get cold enough, even if i turn the knob to 7 (the highest).

Most frideges get all their cooling from the freezer. There will be a fan and duct in the back of the freezer that pushes cold air down into the fridge. If the duct is blocked with ice or the fan motor has quit. Your freezer will work fine but the fridge will barely cool at all. Check that the fan runs when the compressor is running, ( turn both temp knobs to the highest cooling and leave door open until comp. comes on). If the fan runs your duct is plugged. If not you need a new " Freezer Fan Motor". Most are simple to replace and cost around $100.00.

Refrigeration half of fridge does not have a cooling unit. It gets its cold from the freezer. There is a door between the fridge and the freezer which is controlled by the fridge temperature control knob. Often times the connection is purely mechanical. There may also be a fan to push the air through the door which is controlled by the fridge temperature knob which is actually a thermostat.

If, the fresh food section is 34- 38 degrees, then the freezer should be cold enough to keep ice cream solid. All of the cooling capability comes from the freezer section. I, personally, would not waste time or money on a ten year old box. Ten years ago it cost $1000, so, the outlay is $100 per year. Dump the old refrigerator and get a new one.

it sound that your fridge is cloged of ice if so defrost it by unpluging it for the day to defrost completlyb with freezer door open then replace defrost timer if to much ice is formed on coil air does not cuculate properly thanks from gille

sounds like your defrost timer is not working properly . Most fridge/freezers the fridge gets cooled from the cool air from the freezer . But when the defrost timer is not working properly the section between the fridge and freezer freezes up and hence doesnt allow the flow of cool air into the fridge. The defrost timer can be easily replaced. 

It's still under guarantee. Take it back now. 

Is the fan in the freezer working?? Is there Ice on the rear panel in the freezer?
