My Panasonic DECT 6.0 always says "New Voicemail". We do not have voicemail through our Service Provider. We called them anyway and they confirmed that we do not have voicemail and there's nothing they can do.
Try pressing and holding the MUTE (CLEAR) button until the handset beeps. Then clear all incoming calls.
Disable VM tone detect in menu. The phone appears to always detect a VM regardless of the truth.
You received a message on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. To hear the message, dial the voicemail number provided by your service provider (in many cases, this will be your own phone number), and follow the voice instructions for listening to your messages. You need to store the voicemail access # by pressing [MENU], [#] [3],[3],[1] on the handset. To access the voicemail, press [TALK], then softkey [VM]. Depending on your service provider, you may need to clear your voice mailbox to remove the notification.
Use your cellphone and leave a new voicemail on your home voicemail system (not the Panasonic system). Using your Panasonic handset, retrieve the voicemail from your home service and delete it (and probably all other messages). This cleared the "new voice mail" message from the screen on all three of my handsets.
To clarify: you must have had a voicemail service from your home phone provider or you would not have gotten this message. Try taking your base station and phones to a friend's house and plug them in. Preferably someone who has a voicemail service. Leave a voicemail for them and have them clear them. The message on your handsets should go away. If you take the phones back home and STILL have the message then you know for sure it is your local phone company's issue.

i've got the same problem... none of these suggestions worked (i'm reading 6 different things to try). have you figured out how to get rid of it? thanks! :@ ) susan
I've had this problem for years and tried to hold the # key and that does delete the message for about 15 minutes and then it comes back. What I finally did after a year of having this message....is I called my home phone number from my home phone and it said I had a new message and I deleted it. My home answering system said I had no new messages but somehow there was a very old message on my 'phone'. Hope this helps!
