You would have to select the video/audio source(that you connected the DVD to) on the tv by pressing the input or video button on remote or tv front panel.

How to get dvd on tv

There are generally 2 ways to connect a dvd player to a tv.1 If you have 3 rca connectors on the back of your tv (they are color coded yellow for video and white and red for audio left and right channels respectively) and the same connectors on the back or side of the dvd player.Use rca cables to connect the dvd player to the tv,connecting yellow to yellow white to white and red to red.Using the remote put your tv on video.Put the channel selector on the dvd/vcr player on video or L1 or E1 (depending on what brand dvd/vcr you have).2 connect a rf (coaxial cable from the rf output of the dvd/vcr and connect this directly to the rf (antenna) input to your tv.Put the tv on channel 3.Play the dvd/vcr to see if you have the video. If not put the tv on channel 4.Some dvd/vcr's put their signals out on channel 3 and others on channel 4.Good luck.

Tying to hook-up my 1100 dvd player to tv I have the three cables white yellow and red audio out to audio in on tv. the recoder plays but no picture. is the a certain channel i should be on?

The connection should be the cable box out to the DVD in, the DVD out to the set. The DVD should have a channel select, Either 3 or 4- set it to the channel that is not used by the cable decoder. which should also have a switch for 3 or 4.

Then all you do is switch between channel 3 or channel 4 with the TV remote or by TV channel buttons. One will be cable, the other will be the DVD.

How do you hook up the dvd player to the tv with a vcr hooked up to the tv

Leave the cable box powered on but disconnected from the TV or VCR. All other components should be disconnected and unplugged, giving clear and easy access to all connections. If components sit in an entertainment unit, make sure all A/V cables can reach the RF modulator and the cable from the modulator can easily reach the television.
  • Step 2 Hookup the first coaxial cable from cable box output, usually labeled "TV," "TV out" or "Out to TV" to the cable "In" on the VCR. Connect the second coaxial cable from the VCR's out to "TV" to the coaxial input on the RF Modulator.
  • Step 3 Connect the third coax cable from the coaxial cable "Out" jack on the RF Modulator to the coax cable "Input" on the television.
  • Step 4 Take one A/V cable, connect the red (right audio channel,) white (left audio channel) and yellow (video) from DVD player's "Output," to the corresponding DVD "inputs" on the RF Modulator. Place components as desired but still disconnected from power. Plug in all power cables including the RF Modulator's into the surge protected outlet strip.
  • Step 5 Make sure the Channel select switch usually found on the back of the VCR and the Channel select switch on the RF Modulator are both set to Channel 3. This channel is used on the television to view your components.
  • Step 6 Turn on the power strip and turn on the TV. Cable reception should come on as usual. Set the TV to Channel 3 and turn on the VCR. With VCR on test it by playing a video tape. The RF Modulator should sense the signal and automatically switch to "VCR."
  • Step 7 Switch off the VCR and with the television still on channel 3, turn on the DVD player. As the RF Modulator senses the DVD player signal and switches to DVD, its welcome screen should be seen on the television. Play a DVD to test and once you're done with the DVD turn it off and the cable should come back on.

Turn on DVD power and Aiwa name screen is not displayed on television. rather it is just snow. no picture when dvd is playing. just snow. even though no loose connections. please help

i assume that your connection between tv and dvd is using an rf modulator. that means you dont have video input in the tv. if this is the case, set the tv channel to channel 3 or 4. let us know.

How to hook up vcr and dvd together ?

    |DVD| -> |VCR| -> |TV|

    1. Connect your VCR to your TV. (Using Antena cable or RCA cables.)

    2. From your DVD player, choose the AUDIO VIDEO OUT. Then, connect that to your VCR's LINE IN jacks.

(*)Your DVD player has 3 jacks coming out. Yellow-video, White- Audio Left and Red- Audio Right.
If you VCR does not have the RED jack. Go to a radio shack and tell on of the sales person taht you need to connect 2 RCA audio outs to 1 RCA audio in. (He/ She will give you a "2RCA Male to 1RCA Female" splitter)

    3. Finally, play your DVD, put your VCR channel in TV and most important select the LINE channel in your VCR. (This channal may called as L1, Line,... etc)

You should be seeing the DVD in your TV now.

If you want to play the VCR, just put the casset and play.

Important- The VCR needs to be powered on in order to the DVD signals to go to the TV.

    Cheers!!!!

    Will not work

Hi, you'll want the 3 colored RCA cable to hook this up to an older TV.  Yellow is for Video Out on player and Video In on TV.  Then, on player, correspond the red and white to their holes for Audio Out, and match them with Audio In on your TV.  You may have 2 spots on your TV that are labeled Audio In.  Try them both - the one that works should very close to you Video In line.
    Hope that helps!

Cannot view channels higher than 10 and cannot get DVD to come on

Dear althea, I cannot help you with the first problem, but as for the second, "DVD does not come On" and "Do not understand Video 1, 2, & 3 settings." it is very simple. YourTV has the sockets at the front Marked Video 1, Audio L and audio R, The y are in three colors - Yellow for video, red for audio right and White for Audio Left. Similarly, you have 2 such sets of 3 sockets - they are Video 2 and Video 3. This allows your TV to be connectod to three different Video sources - maybe a VCR, A Video game, and a DVD player. To view the pictures generated by your DVD Player, all you gotts do is connect the supplied AV cord from the rear of the DVD player to the front three sockets in the proper order - Video from DVD to Video of TV, Audio L & R from DVD player to Audio L & R of TV. Now press Video on the TVs remote. Press repeatedly till you get Video 1 displayed on the screen. Then, if you now play your DVD player - make sure there is a disc in it - you will be able to view the picture / movie. Good Luck
