Laptop wont boot up, black screen, has power

You didn't post the Make, Model of Laptop or the OS you are using. I'll use a Win 7 solution. Boot the Laptop, open the Control Panel, select Power Options, set to High Performance, select Change Plan Settings, set SLEEP to Never, select Change Advanced Power settings, go through the settings , set SLEEP and Hibernate to Never, Power buttons and Lid to shut down. Always shut down and unplug your laptop when not in use to prevent damage from power surges and possible Fire hazard IF the battery malfunctions. A reboot every day will reset the computer.

I got my Acer laptop about a week ago. It's been plugged in all day, closed. The power light is on and the battery light indicates it's fully charged, but the screen is black and the computer is totally...

I would try unplugging the laptop, remove the battery for a few seconds and then put back and then try to turn on. See what happens and go from there.

I just purchased an HP Pavilion dv-7-3057nr. Several times, on startup, the screen remained black. I had to shut down by holding in the power button. Someone told me that by removing the battery and...

Yes, more than likely since it is a new laptop it is updating or patching something in windows. Sometimes this causes them to seem unresponsive when they are actually updating many files in the background. Check the status of your updates and when you do use the power button to force a shutdown ALLWAYS make sure that the drive light is not on or blinking.

Toshiba satellite becomes unresponsive after bios

Hi,

First of all try this. Turn the laptop off and remove the battery. hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Plug just the AC mains power jack in and turn the laptop on.
If it boots all is well, turn the machine off, put in the battery.

Just out of interest can you remember who manufactured the BIOS? was it Phoenix or AMI?

Good luck.

Computer went black and unresponsive but power still on

Please do the following in order: 1. pull the battery and power it up 2.next pull the cd rom and try to power up 3. pull the hard drive and try to power up. If none of these helped then leave these components out and 5. remove one memory chip and try to boot 6. then pull the second one if applicable putting back the first chip. OK now if you still have a problem leave everything out except one memory chip and hook to a desktop monitor and see if that works. If none of these worked then you most likely have an issue with a video card or the motherboard. Good luck! you can email me at [email protected] for more help Phil

MX6448 won't boot; black screen.

It seems that you don't remove the battery when you use the Notebook. This practice shortens the life of the battery because, when you use the a/c adapter and the battery, your battery is alternately charging and discharging all the time. The cells in the battery eventually die.

From what you describe, it sounds like the power strip inside the Notebook (where you plug in the adapter cord) has been damaged and needs to be replaced.

Your computer is not a total loss. Just have that power strip and the battery replaced and your Notebook should be up and running again.

And, in the future, if you just remove the battery when your kid uses the computer, or if you are going to be using it for over 1 hour. Save the battery to use when you need the mobility.
