Hello
I got a brand new compatible battery for my G2 and it worked just fine for a couple of months. Now, when I plug my charger in, the charging light indicator doesn't flash and the bettery doesn't charge. However, with the charger plugged in I can use the camera fine. As soon as the charger is taken off the camera goes dead.
Is it that the battery is not charging or something else is wrong? Please advise.

I think I may have solved MY problem: I ordered (on eBay for 97 cents, mind you) a new BATTERY CHARGER. I charged both batteries and now they seem fine. I must say I have only tried to see if they charged and viewed a few photos. The new charger went from red to green, so now I'm thinking it may be a defect in the charger cable that came with our camera, like the previous poster said! (ie the port inside the camera that connects to the charging).
I advise trying what I did. Even with shipping it only cost me $8.

I have the same problem. Worked for 3 years and now the battery charges to green but goes dead immediately. I've changed batteries. Its the camera not the batteries. Works fine plugged in. Obviously the cameras are not charging the batteries. Canon must know but I cannot find a fix and warranty is over. I guess buying the expensive camera of the day isnt always assuring you of quality.

I have the same problem. I have 2 batteries I got with the camera 5 years ago and the charger starts to flash then stops. I kept thinking I forgot to put in the GOOD battery, but both do the same. The camera does work when plugged in but again, can't get the orange light to stay blinking.
I had my g2 a few years now and brought it into Best Buy for repair since it was still under warranty then... well it was supposedly fixed until 2 days before the warranty was set to expire. I was out of town and wasn't able to bring it in again...
Basically what happens is that I set the camera to charge and it acts as if its charging... light goes green after a while (few hrs of charging) then when i remove the charger and try to operate the camera the battery almost immediately acts as if was dead and takes maybe 1 or 2 pic's then shuts down and blinks of low battery.
This was supposedly fixed but even with a new battery still the same prob.
I love this camera but man... this problem stinks!
Any ideas?

When I tried to charge the battery in the camera the charging light will not go on and the on indicator light goes on but the battery won't charge
