Maybe this could be the solution:

Source: http://www.speakerstation.co.uk/ipod-speaker-docks-ct-87.html
--> "...
Important Note: iPods released since Sept 2008 (e.g. Touch 2nd Gen, 4th Gen iPod Nano and iPod Classic 120 Gigabyte, iPhone 3g and onwards) have an updated dock connector that means older revisions of speaker dock may not be able to charge these newer models of iPod/iPhone. Older docks should play music from these newer models with no problem.
The problem with charging is due to Apple removing support for 12v (firewire) charging on these new models of iPod/iPhone. Only 5v (USB) charging is supported on these new models. ..."

Yamaha Receiver won't turn on after USB plugin in. Help!

Unit is in protect mode. Sometimes an ipod draws too much current through the usb jack and causes the unit to shut down due to an abnormal voltage being detectected. Press and hold the 'info' and 'tone control' buttons and push power. This should turn the unit on. Turn it back off and turn it on again and should power up normally. If the ipod continues to make the unit shut down when plugged in, try and make sure it is fully charged before plugging it into the receiver - this may help.

The zeppelin no longer plays 2 ipods, it flashes a blue light when pressing play but no music.

the flashing blue light normally indicates the ipod is on pause. if the unit is not on pause, the problem could be the arm or the interface board, they power suppy could also be the old type, so suggest you contact b and w service if you have not already. (if there is an issue, ask them if your serial number has the updated or the problematic power supply unit!)

My ihome won't work. The ipod is playing, but there is no sound coming out of the ihome nor is the radio working.

Make sure you have power to the unit. Do you see indicator lights that show the unit is working. Speaker switch on?

My iPod shuffle will not charge

If iPod shuffle won’t turn on or respond
â If the status light blinks orange when you press a button, the iPod shuffle buttons are
disabled. Press and hold Play/Pause (’) for about three seconds, until the status light
blinks green.
â Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer. Your iPod shuffle
battery may need to be recharged.
â Turn iPod shuffle off, wait five seconds, and then turn it on again.
â You may need to restore iPod shuffle software. See “Updating and Restoring
iPod shuffle Software” on page 26.
