Sylvania 27 in tv picture

Horizontal centering is performed in the service menu. Beware! You can mess up a lot of stuff in this menu.

One or more electronic components was burned or deteriorated inside the tv.

Replace the TV.

The LA78041 IC has failed. I replaced it twice before I cleaned the high voltage connection to the CRT. It was very cruddy from cigarette smoke. A high voltage discharge to the yoke takes out this IC. They are available for under $4.00 Good luck.

Again, nothing in manual for Philips LCD will correct the fact that the picture in HD-D mode will not center. The picture runs off the monitor on the left (facing the monitor) with a 2 1/2" black border on the right (facing the monitor). Using the format button on the remote of directional arrows will not correct the issue. The wide-screen/ full-screen function with format does nothing. Moving into TV mode, the format function works to display screen in several ways 4:3, 19:2, super-zoom, wide-screen, full-screen. Help, please. posted 3 years ago

I have a Philips 30 inch LCD and solved the problem by using the circular arrow button on the TV remote. Pointing it at the TV and clicking "right" (3 o'clock on the button), the picture moved right. Same thing on for "left". Worked for me.

   WOW! It works!! The picture on my Magnavox (aka Philips) 37MF321D had shifted to the right. I figured I had a big repair bill coming up soon. But hey! Just used the TV remote as described by "Guest', and re-centered the picture to the left. Wallah! Thanks ""Guest" whomever you are! Reply

make sure not muted. otherwise many circuit problems can cause this. if picture good . prob worth tech ck out.

you are viewing in16:9 ratio (widescreen) and your tv is 4:3 you need to change your picture settings in the tv menu

replace the vertical output IC

All TV stations in the US are going digital in the next 11 months, and the format most have adopted is exactly what you describe...accordianman

This problem sounds like a short inside the picture tube itself unless a driver transistor failed that drives the red gun in the CRT. You may have to take it to an authorized repair facility if the picture tube is still in warranty.
