I think that on this model laptop (of which I have several) you have to press F4 to access the factory restore from the hidden partition.

Bad news.

  • Like all other mainstream PC brands, no physical recovery disks are provided. The factory recovery data is stored on a hidden partition on the hard drive. However, the included Phoenix Recovery software does not work
Good News.
  • If you have a windows xp install disk you can use that. if you do not, you can buy one. Amazon you can get a new windows install disk for about $200.00. Or you can upgrade to Window 7 for about the same price.
So you do have choices. I hope I helped you make one.

In the bios settings there should be a function key that sets default settings back, if not take out the battery and memory - let sit for a few hours without power to reset bios. If that doesn't work goto the Averatec website to get support. Good luck!

Press Ctrl+F11 as soon as you turn on the system. This will take you to the complete factory restore.

You may have to use a trail and error method to reach the settings.

What do you mean by "back to the factory settings"?
If you want the laptop back to when you first bought it then you need to format the hard disk and do a fresh Windows install plus install the device drivers for your laptop.

you are getting blue screen because of compatibility issue. go into bios (press f2 on start up) and change from sata mode to ahci compatibility mode 'probably in the advanced section). you should then be able to boot from xp cd. remember to get your xp drivers from the hp website.

I have an Averatec 3200 xp home edition. It was a gift. All that came with it was the power cord. How do i reset factory settings?

If laptops do not come with an installation disc, sometimes there is a setting in the BIOS which will allow reseting to factory settings. When the computer is first turned on, it will usually provide a specific key to access the BIOS or setup screen.

So today i desided to restore my Averatec 3150H

You can get Bart PE at www.tucows.com online and look it up it will allow you to start-you have no choice. You can start up windows to look at the drive, this is assuming you have Xp or XP professional. It will allow you to reformat the drive, do not format the partition that has the drivers in it unless you have to bart pe also has a disk repair on it to allow you to fix some of the most common problems on windowsxp. If you need averatec's web site for support let me know and I can give you their 800 number so you can call them, there computers are junk I owned one had to replace three mother boards in one year.

I need someone to explain to me where I might find the hard reset switch for the bios on my averatec 3200

Open up the inside of the notebook, and you should see a watch style battery. Just remove it while the notebook is turned off and unplugged, and that will reset the BIOS for you.

Hello, I have Acer Aspire 5710 Notebook Comes with witndows Vista, i installled Windows XP on it now i need to Restore it on factory default settings. but when i press ALT + F10 on system stratup it does...

Press Alt and tap F10 only when the acer screen appears.

If this does not work and open the recovery program then is it possible that you formated over the driver and partition when you loaded XP?

If not the make sure that D2D recovery is enabled in the bios settings. You can check this by pressing F2 on boot and going into bios.
