Password reset I have a dell inspiron 1501 laptop that i bought used and it has a password on it when you turn on the computer and I dont know the password so Ihave to sign on as a guest but i cant do the things I need to do. Is there any way to reset this?

You can try the following steps:
1. Restart the computer
2. On dell logo screen(before windows starts), tap the F8 key slowly 5 to 7 times
3. Select the safe mode
4. If you see the adminstrator a/c, login using the same
5. To continue working in safe mode , press yes
6. Click start >control panel>user account
7. You can change the password for the old account here
8. If you want to create a new account you can also do the same.

Note :if you are not able to login using the adminstrator account , you would have completely remove everthing from the computer and redo windows on it using the cds.

Reformatting the hard drive is the best way to solve this problem. Reformatting will also get rid of all the junk files and make the system faster.
