My fax machine MFC7420 can not recieve any faxes but I can fax out? Please help ASAP. Erica 514-940-3645

The message means:

407 No confirmation from the receiving station for the
previous page sent.
Wait a few minutes and send again.

This can mean 2 things

1) you have not set your fax machine to recieve faxes

2) you need to have your fax machine serviced because the part that makes it pickup a fax has malfuctioned

Clean all paper paths with paper path cleaner.
Unplug and then after 10 seconds replug the fax machine and do a test recieve for it

If all else fails, you may need to call a service person to repair or replace the broken or defective part that recieves faxes.

Only one press for each display,
When you press the FAX RECEIVE MODE button, the display should change each time you press. eg: AUTO, FAX ONLY
When you see the FAX ONLY, press the SET button and leave it like that. Don't try to do it when the fax rings. Do it when the fax machine is idle.

Set the fax machine to FAX ONLY mode by
pressing {RECEIVE MODE} until the

How to receive calls
Just leave it. When the other party sends a fax,
the fax machine will receive it automatically.

Hi, you can check that your phone connection from your 7420 to line works. Listen for a dial tone in a phone connected to your mfc7420. If not, your tel comm module could be at fault.

The machine is set with the sleep mode as a default. The fax part can be changed to recieve a fax by pressing the fax mode button. Press it until it says Fax only, not F/T. F/T means Fax/Telephone. This mode would make it to where you have to pick up the reciever and press start when a fax comes in. The Fax only mode means it will pick up everytime a fax comes in automatically. Make sure your phone cord is connected to the LINE port of the fax machine.

It sound like your machine is receiving but as soon as it tries to prints the fax it has this problem.

Rewind the ink ribbon so it is nice and tight in the housing. Clean the black roller above it with some cleaning alcohol or equivalent (nothing too harsh).

See how that goes if you are still having problems replace the whole cartridge (not the refills) PC-401.

Go in the menu/or options mode ,find receive and select auto mode.
