On most dvd players there is a little hole that is about he size of the end of a paper clip. A wheel is behind that hole, try using a paper clip or something similar in size and rotate the wheel, try both directions. If there is no hole under the tray just look under the tray.

You need to have the usb device formated as FAT32 and the videos will only work if reformated using
WinX Free AVI to MPEG Converter
It is freeware but watch carefully to dodge any toolbars it may install.
