Sony mic gnz8d cd/DVDs tray struck.how to overcome

my sony hcs-gnz8d switch off shortly after opwer on

that depend of the format that your DVD accept. read your instrc.manual and read what format accept and do not accept. and proceed according.

open up the screws , if you can check the tray if there is something inserted remove it and its ready to be used again ,

the reason is something is struck inside it may be a disk or something .

Most CD trays will open if you shut off equipment and pull gently but firmly to overcome the slight initial resistance. Don't use so much force that it seems likely that the tray mech will break. This calls for a serious bit of taking apart and is best left to the local repair shop.

whats the model number and the manufacturer of teh cd or dvd rom

What you might of done is pushed the dvd tray to close it, so its out slightly.Come across it a couple of times. all i did was, open the tray & before it started to close, switched off the power. pull the tray until it opens fully(dont yank it). when its fully open, try to pull it very slightly more. plug it back in & let it go back its self, if it doesn't. push it. all thats happened is its just out slightly. messing about with it like this will sort it im sure. let us know how you get on. The tray won't open. I took top off and dvd top side holder, but the laser mechanism won't disengage so the tray will open, even with no dvd in it. How do
I reset it. I power on, hit open key, it makes hum noise then goes by to
standby mode.

Need to unlock the MHC-GNZ8D. Please help.-

just open the player (4-6 screws) and clean the lens. I had a similar problem (plays VCD, CD but no DVD - tray will open immediately). It worked afterwards
