The left side of the screen got very dark after the tv had been on for a couple of hours two nights ago. The next day it was fine. Today the same thing happened. I turned the tv off for a couple of hours and the picture was fine when I turned it back on, but then the left side went dark again after barely 10 minutes. The tv is actually an LC-62C42U, which is not included in your list of Aquos models. I purchased it from BJ's about 18 months ago. This is the first time I've had this problem.

It sounds that the back-light CCFL lamp is faulty. It is time to replace it. When replacing, do it to all CCFLs, because, the life time to these lams are expiring now, as the set is nearly 4 years old. Check this link http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ to get more details about how to replace the CCFLs. Pull up older posts there. Some among it have details.
For your remote problem, mine has stopped working a couple of times and here is what Sharp had me do: Take the batteries out of the compartment. Next press and hold down the power button on the remote for a count of 30 seconds. Return batteries and the RC should be reset. As for the other problem, I had a similar thing happen tonight, hence I am on this site looking for help. My remote quite working, so I did the above, to no avail. I noticed the channel number box was frozen on the screen. I could not turn the TV off manually and had to unplug from AC. I plugged it back in and got sound but no picture, just that bluish dark screen. TV would not turn off. Then I got nothing, no sound, no pic. I left the TV unplugged for several minutes, 5 or so, plugged it in and it did work and is working now, RC too. You might try unplugging it for an extended time.
You must pull fridge out the water valve is in the bottom back. Sounds like the valve is stuck open.
You can Google your model# to find appliance parts to order new valve.
as per your statement
there is a loose contact in power supply section of your tv.
it is 1oo% sure that allthe parts are ok as
tv runs ok when it comes on.
but you will have to call tech. as without knowing technology it is dangerous to open tv due to high voltage.
