Why does my sanyo dp46840 shutoff after 15 minutes and then come back on
That is definitely not a common behavior.
Shutting off and not coming on by itself would be somewhat acceptable, but shutting off and then coming back on is really weird.
If I had to choose I'd go for a bad main board, but in reality it may be the power supply too.
it's just that we've serviced hundreds of main boards and very few, if any, power supplies for DP46840.
I think the best I can offer you is send the main board and let us run it for 20 minutes to see if it'll do the same at our end.
You can see what the price is if we confirm a problem and are able to fix it - the cost is fixed and is at our site.
if we confirm the problem and can't fix it - happens every now and then - then you pay no service fees whatsoever.
And if we can't confirm the problem you'd pay $20 diagnostic fees for us testing the board.
in all cases you pay the return shipping cost unless you send us prepaid return shipping label , which is the same, but some prefer doing it that way.
I understand this does not help a whole lot as it doesn't let you figure out right away if it's your main or power supply that is bad, but the next better would be manually jumping the power supply to activate the backlight and letting it stay that way (main board off - just bypassed) and even if it stays on for 30 minutes it still wouldn't be certain if it's because the PSU is good or if it's because it's not loaded enough.
Trying one of your two boards on a good set OR trying a knowingly good board on your set is the most efficient way of finding out the guilty board.
