The DS-3000 and the software is was shipped will not operate with Windows Vista. The software i suspect you have will DSS Player Pro Release 2 or 3. If you obtain a copy of DSS Player Pro Release 4 you will be able to use the DS-3000 on Windows Vista 32 bit or 64 bit without problem.

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product. The cost is $96 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

No, you can't do this on the Olympus DS-50 , its not a dictation machine, you can do this only by Olympus DS-2300, DS-3300, & DS-4000 which they have the Editing Features : Insert,Overwrite, eraseing and Partial erase
