Thermador wcggcv30 gas cooktop - how to remove glass top

I've removed the three screws from along the top perimeter of the box which I assumed were the only fasteners tying down the glass cooktop to the box. However, when I try to separate the glass top from the box, it doesn't come loose. I'm afraid to really try hard to pry it off since it's glass and it seems as though it's being held down from other points not necessarily along or near the edge. I'm need to replace a momentary switch for the fan.

I have a similar problem with a Termador GGNCV30W gas cooktop with glass top. I've removed the brass rings that are part of the burner assembly, but cannot see how to remove the rest of the plate that rests under the burner, preventing me from getting inside. Need to replace the central ignition unit. Would appreciate guidance or ideas

Ours is a ten-year old Model GW395LEGQ6. I'm trying to replacing the wiring harness that will fix the left burners failure to ignite. I've removed every screw I can get my tools on, and the end caps seem to be held in place with some internal (out-of-reach) screws. How do you get access to that wiring?

The front burners on my whirlpool gas range are too high. How do I get the cooktop off so that I can adjust the flame?

Remove the brass ring nuts and the screw from each of the burners and pull off the knobs, then lift up the glass cooktop; no need to remove the three screws around the perimeter or even take out the box.

Glass top is scratched and discolored...can you replace just the glass top? Susan

GLASS MAINTOP ASSY
Part Number PS253905
price around $812.92

Replaced main glass cooking surface on cooktop

First, shut of the breaker to the cooktop.
Then removed two screws to release brackets holding cooktop down. Then lifted the cooktop out of the recess in the counter top and removed the screws around the outside of the glass top. Removed the old, cracked top, by unplugging from the motherboard.
Turned the new cooktop upside down on table and placed weather stripping around the entire underside outside edge (to keep spills from going under the cooktop and cushion the cooktop from the counter top.
Then plugged the new cooktop into the motherboard, replaced screws around outside edge, lowered the cooktop into the recess in the counter, and reinserted the two screws into the hold-down brackets.
Turned the breaker back on.
Note: Just need Screw drivers and 40 minutes of your time.

How to fix GE cooktop error code F116

First, i tried turning on/off power with no luck. if you get this code you will probably just need to replace the LF burner, which is pretty easy to do. i researched and found GE OEM parts from appliance zone. info is below:

ApplianceZone.com Items
1 Stove / Oven / Range Radiant Element Lf - WB30T10080 (OEM) @ $170.67 = $170.67
Sub-Total: $170.67
Shipping: $6.95 Standard Shipping (6.95) USD
ApplianceZone.com Total: $177.62

Once i received then new burner i just replaced it and all is working fine, no error code!
First i turned off all power and removed my cooktop from my counter and unscrewed the sheet metal shroud on the bottom, only remove the screws around the perimeter of shroud closets to glass, they are small black Phillips screws, like 15 screws total. i didn't disconnect any wires from the unit to junction box, you should be able to leave all that alone if you have a long enough connection. i made the mistake of leaving the cooktop upside down when removing the metal shroud, don't do this. there are springs on posts that keep the burners tight to the glass and will fall out (if up side down). leave the cooktop right side up and just lift off the glass once you remove all screws, when lifting the glass off, there is one plug at the circuit board attached to glass that you will need to unplug to completely remove the glass and set aside. you will see the 4 burners, i took a picture of the unit with glass removed to make sure i could reference any wires when i was re-installing new burner. i unplugged all wires to LF burner and unplugged the harness from the circuit board. once i removed old burner i noticed the new burner doesn't include the 2 tabs you need. i removed them from the old burner and made sure to install them in the same location on the new burner. I than plugged in all wires and harness back into the unit and set burner on posts with springs. carefully replace glass and don't forget to plug the glass top circuit board back into the unit circuit board. re-attach metal shroud and screws, drop in and done! there are instructions to re-calibrate the new burner which is probably a good idea, i didn't and it is working just fine! good luck

Turn off the gas, unplug the power.
Take the cooktop out of the cutout and support it on the countertop.
Remove all grates and valve knobs.
Remove all screws from the valves and the burners.
Remove the burner base plates.
You may have screw on the side holding the top to the base,if so,remove these too.
The top will separate from the bottom exposing your parts.

Gas valve Switch

First i should say it is very dangerous to preform gas appliance service if you are not trained. if you have evin the slightest question in your own abilities ALWAYS call in the pro's. However I think I can help. 1st turn off and disconnect gas. remove cook top from counter and lay on towel top down. Sense this is glass top there is no service from top. there are a series of screws that go around the perimeter of bottom. remove these screws. The bottom should lift away. this will allow you to change components. hope this helps and good luck.

Jenn air cook top

Yes you can. Call Jenn Air ((877) 232-6771) and give them your model number (serial is helpful too). They sent my replacement glass within a week. I have a model JED8430ABD from 2000 and they had the top. Fit perfectly and took about an hour to replace.

To change it out, after unplugging the cooktop, I removed the metal tape connecting the external vent shaft to the blower. Then I just lifted the entire cooktop out up out of the countertop so I could access the screws on the sides of the cooktop (looking at the edges of the new cooktop glass helped me figure out which screws to remove around the edge). Then I removed the 2 screws in the vent area on top (1 black screw on each side). And that released the cooktop glass from the metal box that holds the burners. I then took the rubber rings out of the knob holes so I could put them in the new cooktop (I almost missed that...). Finally, I put the new cooktop glass on, put the screws back in, lowered the cooktop back into the counter, and retaped the blower to the vent shaft. Voila!

I really wouldn't be afraid of doing this yourself if you are handy at all. And it will save you a ton. Good luck.

PS The screws around the perimeter are hexigon shapped, so you can't just use a screwdriver. I found my Black & Decker electric screwdriver had that same shaped hole that it held the bit, so I just pulled out the bit and used the screwdriver that way. Worked like a charm.

Replace JED8430ADB Ceramic Glass

First, you have to pull out the cooktop from the counter and remove the knobs.
Next, there are hex screws around the perimeter - do not remove the lowest ones on the front and the back (they hold the tray that the burners sit in) or the ones on the bottom (they help to hold on the blower assembly).
The final trick are two screws that are located in the downdraft plenum - there's one on each side (you don't have to remove the two in the back or the front - those are for small covers only).
The glass should lift out.
When putting the new glass in, remember that the plenum walls fit on the inside of the glass (you won't see the top of the steel).

Jenn air jed 8430 electric cooktop control switch for rear burner

The cook top is attached to the wood frame by brackets, just remove the screws and the electric connection, make sure the power is off from the main box, it's a 220 volt wiring and then just lift the top off. to remove the glass, look around the edges and you should see some small screws, just remove them and the glass should lift off.
