Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your Dyson cleanerkeeps cutting out. First, it can be due to a battery of the cleaner. Make sure that the power cable is properly plug to the power and seated properly from the unit while charging. If you find that the battery isn't charging at all, you may need to replace the battery. Second is to check the MAX button of your cleaner. If the button lights up and flashes when your Dyson keeps on pulsating, press and hold the power button and depress the MAX button to turn off the function. You may need to do it for a few times to get the hang of it. Third is to check for any blockages or clogs in the attachments. Look down through the tube and check to see if there are clogs on the sweeper end or if the roller is tangled up in fibers. Clean the roller brush are if it it's necessary. You may need to empty the dust bin of your unit as debris can build up in hard to reach places. Lastly, cleaning the filters may fix the pulsating of your cleaner. Remove the filter and rinse it with cold water and air dry it for 12 hours. Don't use detergent when washing your filters. If the pulsating doesn't go with the given quick fix, I suggest to contact Dyson for further assistance on this.

Dyson DC59 and DC62 - vacuum makes a pulsing sound (removing a blockage)

Dyson Digital Slim DC59 and DC62 cordless vacuum cleaners are engineered to make a pulsing sound to let you know if they're blocked. This could happen if an item too large for the machine is accidentally vacuumed up. Our video support guide will help you identify and remove any obstructions from the motorised floor tool, wand or bin inlet.

Why has my DC59 stopped working? It is fully charged but cuts out after a second or two.

Hi Eddie, it's Jack at Dyson.

In order to confirm why your DC59 is behaving in this way, we would need to take a few further details from you - including whether or not your machine pulses on and off before shutting down, and whether it displays any solid or flashing coloured LED lights.

When you have your machine easily to hand, please call our freephone UK Helpline on 0800 298 0298. Our experts will talk you through some simple diagnostic checks to pinpoint the cause of the issue. If they determine that a replacement part is needed, they'll also be able to confirm if you're still within your free Dyson 2-year parts and labour guarantee.

We'll look forward to speaking with you. Just to let you know, we're available from 8am-8pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am-6pm on weekends.
