SOURCE: Expired ink cartridge

You may be getting this error message due to the printer being able to tell that it is a non-hp cartridge. I don't know how it can tell, but mine says that too. I uninstalled the software and then reinstalled the software. And then I took out the cartridge and put it back in. See if this works for you.

SOURCE: 8250 HP INK EXPIRED MESSAGE

I had same problem, and i solved it.
I opened my hp 8250 and removed it`s battery. It is located on left side of the printer, on the main board. You need to remove plastic covers , and then remove 3 screws holding board. You can move board just enough to get damn battery out of there. Now it works perfect!
I can send you some piccs if you need help.

SOURCE: Ink System Failure on a HP Photosmart C6280 All-in One

This is likely a cartridge problem except if the carriage is not moving at all. If you still have some of the used cartridges you can used them to trouble shoot by elimination ok. Or contact a nearby technician who has the cartriges to use them for trouble shooting. I strongly believe the one of the print carts is the culprit. Good luck

Hp c5180 override expired ink cartridge

To override expired ink cartridges, use the HP Solution Center application.
https://support.hp.com/us-en

Because HP Solution Center uses Adobe Flash, you will need to change the date of your computer to before January 12, 2021 (since Adobe Flash is no longer supported).

Using Windows 10, go to Settings >> Date & time then turn Off "Set time automatically" and click on "Change" to Set the date manually and select 2020 and click on "Change". This will need to be repeated each time the printer reboots.

In HP Solution Center, choose "Status" to view the "Cartridge(s) Expired warning and click on "OK" to Dismiss this message.

Expired HP printer cartridges BEWARE SPAM ALERT 1-800-532-4187

I have the identical problem with an HP Business Inkjet 1100.

Once cartridges were past date, the printer would no longer print from Windows XP. It would however work perfectly from Linux.

I did not find an ini file as mentioned in other posts, and I really did not want to open the printer as it worked fine in Linux.

The following fixed the problem:

1) Click on Start button, run
2) Type in regedit, enter
3) Navigate to HKLM/software/Hewlett-Packard/HP Printers/HPWH Toolbox/Common
4) In the right panel, right click on Ink, pick modify
5) Change 0100 to 0000
6) Save and reboot
