I want to print in black only and have changed the properties to grayscale, but it still won't let me print in black only. The magenta is out and it says I must replace, but i don't want color! help!

1- Turn off power and unplug from power source. 2- Open right side of printer (looking at the front). 3- Disconnect,by pulling gently, both white flat ribbon cables off the main circuit board. 4- Plug in power source and turn printer on. Wait till you get a error message and push "Ok". 5- Unplug power source. 6- Reconnect the flat ribbon cables by aligning and carefully pushing into the conectors on the main circuit board. 7- Plug in power source and turn printer on (Printer preparing occurred). 8- voila, the nasty error message 0xc18a0001 "Ink System has Failed" is now gone. http://www.fixya.com/support/t451942-help

Ink cartridge Problem
Cause : The indicated ink cartridge(s) are missing or are damaged.

Solution : Replace the indicated ink cartridge(s) immediately so that you can resume printing. If there are no ink cartridges missing from the HP All-in-one, the ink cartridge contacts might need to be cleaned.

IF there is no ink cartridge missing from the HP All-in-One, and you still receive this message after cleaning the ink cartridge contacts, you might have a damaged ink cartridge. Replace the ink cartridge.

The problem may be from installation of the printer software or try to set correctly the printer properties .what is the name of your printer and you OS .

Instead of using the Letter or factory 8 1/2 x 11 page set up, create a custom page size for 8 1/2x11 and use that in your app for the page set up. Double check your page orientation and the size of the photo you are printing. It sounds like it may be trying to tile the photo because it's too large for the page size.

To do a hard reset you pull the plug when printer is on. Then you press and hold the power button for a few minutes to drain unit of any electrical charge, memory, etc. Then replug to wall and turn on. Did that do it? If not you are screwed because hp will only help you out if unit is under warranty. Otherwise they will refer you to a forum or suggest you get another printer - an HP of course! If you go to forum ask for a hidden code to reset unit to factory defaults. Good luck
