1, The Microline 390 printer prints very light or blank pages if the image drum cartridge or the toner cartridge is not installed properly. Re-install the image drum cartridge. Check the image drum contacts inside the printer.

2, If this step fails, then install a new toner cartridge. Bad connection between the printer and the image drum cartridge.

3, Check whether the toner cartridge is installed correctly. Re-install the edge and ensure that the sealed tape is removed from the bottom of the cartridge.

4, See to that the cartridge is seated correctly and the lock lever is pushed all the way forward.

Dot matrix printheads go bad, can be rebuilt, never had great luck cleaning, pins get stuck out.. Also there is a lever that moves the printhead closer or farther from paper. make sure that is in the right position. Usually on top cover may have numbers by the lever such as 1 , 2 , 3 etc

When the alarm light is blinking what other lights are on. This is the fatal error code with the printer.

Remove the ribbon. if still not moving smoothly unit needs service. 3 year warranty on this unit brand new.
If you cannot move the carriage back and fourth accross,

there is a seriuois issue. unit requires service.

SOURCE: Alarm light Microline 320 Turbo 9 pin printer - won't print

We swapped out the printer for another one we had in the office that was working. The new printer also got the alarm light. From that we concluded that it was a bad serial card. We swapped the serial card from another printer, and the original printer started working perfectly. Now we just need to find out where we can purchase another serial card, as we have no more 'spares' around here.

The printing is barely visible

on the print head there is a lever on the right side, you can adjust the distance from the platen to increase the darkness. this also could be a sign that that print head is wearing out

Try to perform an offline test print using your printer alone
To do this, power off your printer first
Press and hold the LF/FF button on the printer panel then power on. The printer will perform its own printing ( lines of pattern )
If it does it without problems ( no MENU lights came on ) the printer should be OK. If not try replacing the printer main control board.

Hope this helps
