When the screen is open, it displays the word OPEN in a box on the screen. When I attempt to remove the bottom base, there is a screw or something dead north and center that holds the bottom on.

I also do not know how to remove the screen.

How to put a new screen on a acer laptop

You need to remove the front top cover above the keyboard to get to the screws that hold the screen on the laptop, then you may have to remove the keyboard to get to the display cables and possibly disconnect the wireless antenna wires from the bottom of the laptop.

Then unscrew all the screws that hold the screen in place. around 4-6 screws. The screen should be free to move and you can pull it up from the case.

if you have a new panel you will need to open up the old screen cover, unscrew the screws, and use a flat screwdriver or a case opener tool to snap open the cover as its hold closed with plastic clips.

if you have a completely new display you can just slide it in the old ones place, connect the cables and screw the screws back.

if the connector is different do not force the connector, buy the exact same model screen as your old one is, if you bought the wrong display and the connectors don't fit, forceing them in the connectors may ruin the connectors.

Clarion Calypso display dim

I have this exact same problem and I have solved it by the following method. Open the unit (2 screws), remove the silver box (3 screws and gold pin connectors), and remove the circuit board (2 screws). You will see the screen is connected to the circuit board by a ribbon cable and two poles with metal connectors that actually go through the circuit board. One of the poles moved freely in and out of the circuit board on my unit, the other was still fixed in place and could not be removed easily. I found that when this pole was fully connected, the backlight functioned and did not when the connection was broken. I soldered the pole in place which solved the problem (maintained the connection).

Harman Kardon HK695 computer speakers

In addition to all the screws mentioned in the bottom of the speaker, the HK695 has an internal brace that runs the length of the case and provides a support bracket for the speaker. To separate the halves of the sub woofer, carefully use a paperclip or something similar to hook the screen over the speaker and pull it off. Once the speaker is exposed, remove the four screws, pull out the speaker and disconnect the speaker wires. Remove the speaker. At this point, the halves will separate enough for you to disconnect the two multi-connector electrical cables that run from the circuit board in the base to the circuit board in the top. Once that is done the case will come apart.
