reinstall your os again not update, may be you will not facing the problem again.

if you want to restart your computer you can push Alt and f10 as soon as you see the acer logal. just push alt then f10 then alt then f10 untill it comes to this page where you can restart your computer but it will be set back like if you just got it and if it came out of the box so everything will be erased

It looks like your hard drive's failed, you don't say which Windows you're running ? Have you tried a recovery disc?

See if the sound is disabled or if it indicates that it "has a problem" Try to re-enable it - or failing that - uninstall the sound card and click the box that says "remove files". Reboot with an internet connection (wifi or wired). Let windows detect the "new" sound hardware. Check any hardware volume control and set to a mid - high level point. After Windows downloads and installs the driver - follow instructions - reboot if asked. Then test the sound. Check software volume controls in control panel and verify that the sound is enabled. Try using the headphone jack if internal speakers are not producing sound. Once sure that the sound card is loaded, enabled and volume is set to mid - high and neither the internal speakers or external headphone do NOT work, you can consider selecting a new sound source that can use a USB port or PCMCIA (PC Card Slot) depending on your needs and port / slot availability on the laptop. try going into your display setting and reset from there.
