There are more ways how to connect PC to router in your case.
My assumption is that your PC has no Ethernet port.

  1. Use wireless connection. Activate Wi-Fi card in your PC and connect it to router by wireless network.
  2. In case you do not have wireless router or you prefer cable link you can buy an USB Ethernet adapter.
Some examples:
Anker USB 3 0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Supporting 10 100 1000 bit...

Cable Matters SuperSpeed USB 3 0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter in Black

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.

Won't connect to the internet

Here are a couple of things to try. You're probably already done this a million times but I'll walk through the connections just in case. Hopefully these instructions will work with the Linksys router model you have.

Power the router up by plugging in the power supply. Plug in an Ethernet cable from your broadband modem to the port in the back of the router labeled "internet". Plug in another Ethernet cable from your computer to any one of the four numbered ports in the back of the router. Hit the reset button on the back of the router. You may need a sharp object like a pen or pencil to poke it. Reboot your computer. Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, and type in http:192.168.1.1. A window should pop up asking for a user name and a password. Don't enter a user name and type admin for the password. Hit ok. The router setup screen should come up. Click on the administration tab. Then click on the factory defaults sub-tab. The sub-tabs are in blue just below the normal tabs. Hit yes to restore factory defaults. Now see if you can connect to the internet through the router.

Internet connection

Ok I have done it a little different sometimes... try this approach... First connect up the DSL Modem to the PC via Ethernet.. Configure the modem from the PC using the Connect to the Internet Wizard... enter all ya ISP details Logon, Password etc. Once this is going OK.. Disconnect the Modem... and then connect it up to the "Router" using the "Uplink" port and when connect ya Modem to the router... then connect another Ethernet cable from Router to same port on ya PC. Then simply use the network setup Wizard to set up an Internet Connection and connect up via ya router thru ya modem... generally works for me....
