I can not remotely connect

Hi!

Yes, the router is blocking the connection. You have to forward the specific port (Port Forwarding) to your remote computer to enable it! I'd like to help you but I have to know which program are you using for the remote controlling, in order to figure out the port you need to forward...

Waiting for your reply...

Regards,
Pelu.

PS: It's the middle of the night here, so my next response might delay a few hours... Thanks for understanding.

I am trying to enable my WEP encryption. My Dell

The default username and password are both admin short for (administrator) now if you configured the router previously and added a password and forgot it you could always reset it from the reset button located in the back of the router hold it in for 30 seconds and wait 1 minute for the router to boot up only if the password admin does not work (I hope this helps have a good day)

actually, he did so because they don't "support" anyone else's equipment. once he verified your connection with them that way, he left. an easy solution would be to reconnect your router back into your system just like it was before. reboot everything, and everything should work just like before, including tivo.

mcdevito75, Your router should be protected with a key number or letters set by the router manufacturer, the number or letters you type in to enable the router to connect you to the internet. Wireless requires 4 satalight hook ups to work, as the satalights move your internet connection will come and go. Contact Dell for more info.

Not connecting to wireless

If your computer does not connect to the wireless router, most likely the wireless card has not been configured with the router's wireless settings ie. SSID, encryption etc.
To secure your wireless network, configure the wireless router and the wireless card in the computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

Iphone doesn't work with router

you said the laptop is connected to the network.
when you try to connect to the wireless network on the i-touch or i-phone, do you see your network.
if your network is secured then you must enter the correct password for the wireless. If you are not sure about the wireless key or the password then you will need to open the router set up page and check the wireless settings.
you can also try to upgrade the firmware ( software) of the router.

I have an acer laptop that I just bought and it's

The WEP key is the encryption key that is configured in the router's wireless settings and the wireless card in the laptop is configured with this encryption setting to allow the laptop to communicate with the router.
WEP is an old encryption, better to use WPA encryption.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

No internet access with my Dell 1184 wireless

Yes, the cable modem connects to the router and then you can connect wireless or by using the lan ports on the router with a cable. If you have security setup on the router you will need the passcode or you will need to push the reset button on the router to clear it to factory settings. Its not required but it is best to use the software that comes with the hardware
