My Deskjet 6940 has been sitting awhile and now the print head is plugged and wont print in black. How do I remove the print head for cleaning?

I ran the head cleaning and the intermediate and the prime features. I can not get the black to print. The printer has been sitting for a while and I need to clean it. Ink could be plugging it.

SOURCE: REPLACED INK AND STILL NOT WORKING

Due to shiaty design, it is easy to accidentaly puncture the printed circuit with the sharp end of the retention spring while inserting a new cartridge. Use a flashlight too look at the white/copper sheet the cartridge makes contact with and look for a puncture (probably near the lower right side.)

SOURCE: HP Deskjet 6940 not printing after replacing ink cartridge

My HP Deskjet 6940 is not printing. The color (left) low ink light is dark and the black (right) low ink light is flashing. I replaced the black ink cartridge with a new one but the low ink light continues to flash. No tears/rips in the circuit strip and all the copper leads appear to be connected

SOURCE: Blank Ink not pumping to print head

Turn off the device after removing the printhead After removing the printhead, turn off the device, wait about 20 seconds, and turn it on again without the printhead installed. After it has restarted, reinsert the printhead.

it will go through this long routine of perhaps 20 min or so. after its compleate it should print great.

SOURCE: printer replaced with black cartridge, and doesnt print

Either the print head for black is faulty, or the wiring to the black print head on carriage are broken. Try also cleaning the metal sensor to the black cartridge inside the ink carriage.

Hp 6940 is not printing black

Hi
It sounds like a good chance the black has blocked it does not take much just things like leaving the cartridge out for a bit or it can also take a bit to get a new cartridge working.
I would recommend you try to do a head clean it uses a lot of ink doing this but sometimes there is no choice.
In settings you should be able to do only black option.

HP 6940 won't print black-new cartridge installed-prints color but no black

In all likelihood your print head has become clogged at the black ink outlet. Be aware that printheads can BURN OUT if you keep trying to print and there's insufficient ink reaching the printhead. The ink flow is relied upon to prevent overheating of the tiny resistors at the printhead. Best bet is to remove the cartridges from the printhead and then remove the printhead and try to clean it in warm water. You will find many youtube videos on suggestions for cleaning the printheads on HP printers. Do a google search for your model. If all else fails you can order replacement printheads for the part that has failed. They are not cheap so price compare. Oftentimes they will cost nearly as much as a new printer!

How do you clean HP 6940 printhead?

Remove the ink cartridge and gently clean the printer head (shiny silver wafer) with hot water, glass cleaner, or isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab. Run the HP head cleaner with the software that was supplied with your printer afterward. Visit HP.com if you need the software or your user manual.

Dear friend, your Black Ink Cartridge is Empty thats why your printer is using the Colour Cartridge to produce the Black Colour. This is the reason you are having Dark Reddish Brown colour instead of Black.
