from the parts diagram I googled they look welded.

Darvon, it looks like there are Woodruff keys on each axle shaft so yes there is a keyway. See the link below, on page 8 is the axle diagram. Good luck!

check ur reverse switch make sure its in froward gear

bent pulley, belt tension ,belt-pulley alignment ,wrong belt ,debris getting into drive system
