SOURCE: Needle wont go up or down

If the Handwheel (big knob) is moving but the needle is not moving, you need to engage the clutch ........depending on the model

- push handwheel in to engage, pull out to disengage
or
- if there is a smaller wheel inside the handwheel, tighten to engage, loosen to release.

BUT if all is jammed........

Check for threads that are jamming the motion of the hook around where the bobbin case is

If your bobbin goes in from the top, remove the needleplate and bobbincase remove thread jams by gently rocking handwheel back and forth until released.

Clean around the hook race with a rag moistened with methylated spirit, surgical spirit or similar, then reassemble.

If front loading, open the door for bobbin case area, release 2 retaining clips holding the collar on (take note of the position/orientation for when you re-assemble....even take a digi photo to refer to !?!).....
......then just do jam removal & clean out in much the same way as for the top loader.

In all cases, don't force too much or be too brutal, gentle and patient works best, try to judge where the jam is caught and work with it slowly......you may need to cut jammed threads, just ensure all are removed before you re-assemble.

SOURCE: Singer Inspiration 4228 Automatic Threading Problems

The small hook that passes through the eye of the needle is bent or broken. If it is only bent it can be straightened with a small screw driver. If it is broken it will need to be replaced. Most dealers can get this part for you for about $5.00

How can you change the needle position on a Morse vintage zig zag model 9200. I can5 find a manual online but I found the machine online for sale

It could be possible your machine does not have the capability of changing the needle position. Some older machines did not have that option. Otherwise, there is normally a knob or dial that will move the needle back and forth.

NICE MORSE 6300 SEWING MACHINE

The manual for the 9500 may be close enough to your machine to be helpful:

http://www.morsemanuals.com/

Looking at the pictures of the 9200, I don't see any dial or knob that could control the needle position.

Janome mc5200 sewing machine E3 code need to fix it myself. Cannot find it in my instruction book

Hello Dear Jeff Moore!
greeting
FYI......
Needle bar is out of position. Press OK to move the needle bar to switching position. (Needle bar change over phase.) 3. Remove the stationary cover then turn the hand wheel to 270°. Using a 2.5mm hex driver, turn the silver gear on the needle-change step motor to move the head from needle bar #1 to #4 then back to #1 to check for any binds. If there is a bind, adjust 'head play' as shown in the service manual. 4. Check and adjust 'moving head stop position' and 'needle stop position' as shown in the service manual.

I have a Pfaff Creative 1473 and am having problems with needle position.

Hello Eelee
As long as the display indicates the change, the needle will move. The needle is not moving with pressing the needle position button because the needle is too close to the fabric .... if the needle is raise up by turning the fly wheel, it will then move according to the number indicated on the display for needle position.

Please let me know how it goes.

Happy Stitching.

Bernina 930 change needle position

Look at the knob which creates the zig-zag stitch (1-4) at the top right of your 930. In the center of that is a silver knob that rotates right and left. That silver switch moves the needle position right and left.

Why does my machine keeps coming up with needle bar is out of position and won't do anything?

Humm, sounds like the needle change sensor is telling you that the machine is not properly centered on ANY needle position. It is between needles. There should be a knob to turn that move the head from needle to needle. once the needle position has been centered.

Turning wheel disconnected from motor?

I would try replacing the needle, as it may have got bent. I have had this happen and I was sure needle wasnt effected. when I changed needle it was fixed. The very tip of my old needle had a slight curve and wasnt connecting to correct spot on throat plate. make sure you have needle in highest position and that stitch selection in turned back to straight stitch.

Inspiration 4205 stitch length won't change

Are you certain that the pattern selector is set for straight stitch and not buttonhole?

Turn the handwheel so that the needle is up and the take-up lever is in it's highest position. Then turn the pattern selector knob through all of the patterns back and forth a few times. Finally, select straight stitch and see if the length works. If not, need to take it to a repair person to determine the course of action.

Pfaff hobbylock 794

The needles are changed by inserted the hex wrench into what looks to be holes on the front and left side where the needles go into the machine.I'm not sure what size the hex wrench is but it's pretty small. From the manual,
"Removing Needle: Unplug the machine. Turn the handwheel counterclockwise to raise the needle bar to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp with the allen wrench and pull the needle out." and
"Inserting needle: When the neddle bar is at the highest position, insert a new needle in the needle holder, making sure that the groove of the needle faces you. Push the needle as far up as it will go and tighten the needle clamp screw." "Removing Needle: Unplug the machine. Turn the handwheel counterclockwise to raise the needle bar to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp with the allen wrench and pull the needle out."

The machine takes DB x 1, or 1738 needles, and a size 14 needle is recommended.

Hope this helps!

Changing stitches on a White 1418 sewing machine...

I have a White 1418. Here's how you do it:

1. Attach the buttonhole presser foot (should have come with your machine) and place the fabric underneath.
2. Set the stitch length knob to 0, the zigzag width knob to 5, and set the needle position to center. Sew 3-5 stitches.
3.Change the stitch length to 0.5, the zigzag width to 2, and the needle position to left. Sew to the entire length of your buttonhole.
4.Set stitch length knob to 0, zigzag width knob to 5, and needle position to center and sew about 3-5 stitches
5. Set the stitch length knob to 0.5, zigzag width to 2, and set needle position to the right. Pressing the R button (reverse button), sew up to the top stitches.
6. Remove the fabric and open the button hole with a button hole cutter.

Sounds complicated, but it's really easy. I love this machine, you just have to know how to use it!
